I'm going to be buying a quick release steering wheel set up from NRG. They've got 2 versions, the regular 2.5 which is about 3" long and the thin version which is 1.25" long. I'll also be using there thin hub.

What I want to know is if anyone is using either of these and which puts the wheel closest to stock.

My friend has one on his delsol, il try to get pics of it if i can, but the 3 inch with the thin hub comes out to be closest to stock, but thats on a delsol.

How tall are you? Right now I am running a wheel with no dish and just the adapter, no spacer or quick release. I'm happy with where it is at but it could be a little closer. But 3 inch dish + 3 inch quick release would be too close for me. Mind you, I am 6'1" but I do like to sit close to the wheel, as close as I can get while still having my feet and legs comfortable with the pedals.

If it was me I'd by the thin version and then add spacers as needed.

Agreed.

On my 1G, my quick release hub was so thick, I opted for a 1.5" dish steering wheel to keep it from being too close to me.

Anybody know what the dish of the factory 2G steering wheel is?

I'm 6'4" (yea I don't fit in a DSM too great LOL).
I know my last car it had a regular length hub and disconnect and it was really close. Wheel had no dish though.

Well the dish will obviously move the wheel even closer to your body.

Damn! At 6'4" I think I would definitely go for the thin version.

Paul, he's also going to need to consider the offset of the adapter. Unless the quick disconnect or that NRG wheel has the Mitsubishi spline count built in.

There's an adapter too? I must not be familiar with the NRG disconnect. With another piece in the mix, I would definitely recommend the least amount of steering wheel dish as possible.

I welded the coupler for my disconnect directly to my steering column shaft, so there's no adapter.

Yep, I'm just not sure how the NRG one works. Just putting it out there.

Let me know how this all goes for you. I want to install the NRG short setup before I take my car to college so I can always take my wheel with me LOL.

I'm using the momo hub with nrg quick release. I got used to the length being so close to me so I decided not to buy the thin hub.

Here's a picture I found from a couple years ago.

After seeing those pictures I'll definitely go with the thin hub and quick release. The dished wheel will put it a bit closer but I can live with that.
