I do have one question though, for the OD buttons, there are 3 wires, red, balck and yellow, which is for what?

Red- power wire for O/D. Black=ground. Yellow=O/D light.

So how are you supposed to connect the wires? if red is for power, then I assume it has to be the positive terminal, is it connected to the OP power light?

or is the power wire joined with the light wire and when you close the switch, it connects to the ground?

When you close the ground, the O/D kicks in and the light goes out. The light says O/D off. You don't need the light. Mine doesn't work and I have no problems telling when the car is in or out of OD. You have a tach, use it. imo, it's better to not have a light than to have a shift knob like everybody else. I am glad that people are finally doing things to change this now tho. You can probably just run the yellow in with the power wire with a crimp connector. That'd be my guess.

and what kind of paint did you use to paint the plastic 'boot' thing....i want to do that...

9d9, what do mean by closing the ground? is is similar to the horn ground? when it is connected tot he chassis, its considered close? I saw a diagram on the web for a borg warner auto tranny and there, the light is connected to the ground and its connected to the power wire.

So I basically have to make a switch that closes the circuit? red on one end and balcka nd yellow on the other?
