Id recommend this ;) Youll be fine with this conversion. If you get a body kit, make sure you go over speed bumps and out of driveways as fast as you can, go over curbs, go 4X4'n, do......well, you get my point of view on body kits :p

yea just make sure to go SLOW and same with going into parking lots.... i usally just watch around me to see whats the best way of getting somewhere

I say do the 97-99 conversion and you'll be happy because body kits get played out so quickly and then you'll have to spend more money again on a new one.

Come on dude, this wasn't asked in the thread.

I know I'm a dick sometimes too, but let's keep the negative bullshit outta threads. :)

The conversion is the same front end 99% of the dsm's have. Go with a body kit, much more stylish. As far as the 18's, you won't be lowering it that far to really make you slam the ground. just don't go like a bat outta hell through the parking lots

go with the body kit, although I'm not sure I want mine lowered, I got the blitz and have 235/40 tires, which adds about an inch to the height, so i could negotiate humps and ramps without any probs. I agree with what DSMtommy said, going for a 97-99 will definitely not make your car standout since it looks stock

wow....john i'm impressed....OMG

back to the thread....yeah...on my kit i always have problems...
i do live in CA so speed bumps and 80 degree angle driveway entrances are everywhere

just be careful

when in doubt....call a friend up to drive you

if you have 235/40/18 your not adding an inch its the same overall diameter as a stock wheel thats why your speedometer didnt need to be recalibrated. ne way I ahve a kit on my car I have the sides and rear molded on and they have taken some sever abuse, who wants to go slow. ne way I have the eibach spotline springs on it with 18's and if I take it easy I hardly ever scrape, but chances are your going to scrape it up a few times that life. just watch out for curbs thats what I hit with mine, than god for urethane

the ideal would be air suspension where you can raise and lower at the push of a button, I think tein is coming out with an adjustable coil and spring setup that you can also raise and lower with a button.

Anyone ever tried to put a piece of aluminum sheeting beneath the front bumper as a means of protection against scrapes? made right, it would look bad ass like the aluminum front air splitter that's seen on most blitz fronts

Speed bumps are not a problem for me, just slowly or in most cases u can avoid them here anyway they dont go the length of the road :thumb:
Potholes are! here in NY PFFT new ones pop up all the time, especially when construction crews are out OMG but what ya gonna do? ill move to florida...nice flat roads mm-mmmm

If you get 18's, are you really gonna half to lower it? Wouldn't that already fill up the wheel gap?

The 97-99 Conversion is not bad and I am not hating on it, but if you want a body kit there is no comparison. You obviously want looks so get a good bodykit like Rudora or whatever you like and put on the 18's first. You might find out that you don't need to lower it anymore and if you do maybe just an 1 inch.

If you decide to get a bodykit just be careful when driving and get URETHANE so it will hold up better than cheaper Fiberglass. I wouldn't second guess myself on a bodykit because of naysayers:rolleyes:

Of course the wilder the bodykit the quicker it could get played out, but who cares:confused: .....nothing last forever. The looks of a 97-99 can get played out too. It is a matter of opinion. Get the bodykit and enjoy it with the nice 18's.:dsm:

wow. im impressed with people actually supporting body kits today. i dont feel like the black sheep for once :) ive not got everything on mine yet, but i too am going with 18's, have coilovers, and fixing to put on my rudora sides and front and buddy club rear. i would say i'll be dragging a little bit, but like the guy said earlier, thats life. go for the kit man..dont worry about dragging or what other people say. just dont drive around with the car sitting on the ground and you'll be fine.

air suspension.. yes.. that will be one of the first things i buy once i get my kit in, prolly the very next even.. just raise it before you leave home so you dont have to look dumb at a speedbump for 10 seconds as u wait for ur car to raise, heh.

the rudora sides need some slight triming to make it fit, the damn corners are sharp, I cut myself as I ran my finger.

Then they use that 3m automotive tape to hold in place

I say go with the body kit. It's your baby, so treat it like that. For some of the people on here saying don't lower cause you're getting 18's, and that will fill the wheel gap. They are misinformed. Not trying to make anybody look bad, but your ride height will not change, well maybe a little since your new tires won't have as much flex on the side walls compared to stock. Any ways, when you buy after market rims, 16's,17's or 18's, they will sell you the tire that will keep your speedo accurate. The rim will be bigger, but the side walls on your new tires will be that much shorter. So a stock rim with the stock tire will be the same height as an 18 with the new tire size. So lower the car, the gap in your wheel well will not be filled without lowering.
