tial wastegate rusting.

so i have noticed a lot of peoples tial wastegates start to rust. just the cast part that says tial. well i decided to cover it up with some vht high temp paint. do you think this will last and still look good? i hate the look of rust so i decided i would try something different. opinions please?

If you prep it right, it shouldn't rust at all where it's painted. What color are you going with and what color is the cap?

I would think a ceramic coating would be more durable, especially with the high temperatures it would be around.

The paint would be cheaper and I think they are good for 1400* IIRC

If I invested a couple hundred dollars + in it, I would invest a little more and get POR high temp paint.

For your info, this is not a rust. The cast part, where it says TIAl is cast SS. As you know SS does rust. Check your info and second, whatever kind of HIGH TEMP. paint,you'll put there it will come off.

Would you like to see pics of my exhaust manifold, exhaust housing, waste gate housing, downpipe and dumptube that have ALL been painted with 'high temp paint'?

Keep in mind I followed the directions and baked on the paint. Heck, its even seen 1300deg EGT's, and over 50 passes over the last 3-4 months and it still looks great. It was functional too for keeping in heat.

Lmfao solid. Why is Tial letting down their customers via rust? I think people should bi*** and get Tial to do something about this matter. I am sure they can be innovative enough to make a rust free WG...I'm sure they have the funds.

Weird, my TiAL has been on my car for years and has no rust. I thought it was cast of NiCrFe just so it doesn't rust.

now dont get me wrong. im not saying EVERYONES wastegate rusts. just ive seen a lot that start to grow some surface rust. and i was trying to bring up a point to help people fix it if it happens. ive even been experimenting with a couple of mine, and seeing about polishing the cast part.
