just as the title states, is it ok to remove the aluminum/fiberglass crap pad from under the hood? i heard it is, and i heard it will cause stuff to mess up...?? any help anyone?? thanks ahead.

ok thanks...i am takin the crap off cuz it has over its lifetime built up some ugly oil marks and dirt on it...
thanks again.

Yea dude its cool to take it off. It one of the first things I do whenI get cars. Its just a heat shield that keeps the heat in during the winter and out during the summer. Also says its so the paint doesn't crack, but I talked to my shop and they said the paint isn't going anywhere.

It will definitely save the paint on your hood; it'll also save the ass of any small child that you sit on the hood, or your hands, etc.

If yours is nasty, get a new one from the dealer. They're not that expensive; certainly much cheaper than a new paintjob.

I heard that it acts as a fire blanket if your engine catches fire. The little plastic plugs will melt, and that thing will fall, and smother the fire. I dunno if this is true or not though.

No, it's not true. But if whoever told you that could supply a bucket of it, we could get some lovely blooms from the petunia bed this spring.

Gimme your address, and he will send you that bucket of scheisse.
