I just got done buyin some for my RS. Personally I don't think its rice becuase it serves some purpose. But what do you guys think???

ok i have an RS and i would never put guages in it, so i have to say yes it's rice, but this is a personal opinion...if you think it looks good or is functional for you then do it...who cares if it's rice or not?? be yourself. btw i like most riciness, but guages arent my thing (is riciness a word?? LOL)

if u have something that requires that you use them, no. Even if you don't, and you are usng them to monitor something the stock gauges don't- cool. If you just buy the autometer clock or some #### to fill pods, then imo; it's rice. You are making an excuse to have something at that point. Gauges used to monitor the engine are nice. I want gauges, but I haven't bought them yet. I think they look good, but they shouldn't just do that. They should serve a purpose.

im in the process of gettin my gauges sent to me...just waitin for the bad boys to come to my doorstep...come on USPS!!

its not rice unless u buy a boost guage without the turbo...if you want exhaust temp...yeh that will help you with tuning, tuning is important for both NA and Turbo...just a bigger deal with turbos. And if you buy oil pressure, fuel pressure, and other temp guages all that #### is important some more than others so no its not ricey...not in my book at least

Some people like to tune N/T's. If you are going to tune, then gauges are a must. Like said before, the only bad gauge for you would be a boost gauge.... All else would work for you

If they actually serve a purpose then its not rice, but in an RS, non turboed... I think its rice because they aren't needed and are probably a big waste of time and money. If it were me, Id get something that would actually increase HP.

I know people with NT's that have them mainly for looks, but they bought useful gauges. What bothers me is when people get them and never hook them up.

Another odd case- I saw a crowd gathering at a show around a civic that didn't really catch my eye at all. I knew he either had a sick interior or something under the hood. He had a supercharger. The crowd panned out, so I asked the guy how he liked it, etc. I asked how much boost he was at, and he said. About 8 psi I GUESS!!!!! He didn't have a damn boost gauge at all. wtf kinda risk is that? Kaboom imo.

What gauges did you get? Factory oil pressure, coolant temp and amperage gauges rarely accurate, so replacing them is cool. Getting boost gauges is rice (for you).

hey, im not tryin to dis the other peoples responses, but if its your car, your money(or not your money) and you like it do it. but make sure its there to serve its purpose, my opinion not tryin to get ppl ****ed at me.:dsm:

Justincredible it is your car and your money. If you pay for mods you like I a fellow customizer/tuner that appreciate enjoying your hobby. If you are not enjoying it to your own preference then something is major wrong. Does it matter to you if people think it is rice?

What if you did another mod that you thought was not rice and yet people all said it was. Would you not get it? Go for it, but don't get a boost guage on a non turbo.:thumb:

It is your money and you should enjoy it to the fullest. If you are doing that get the gauges leave the boost guage out.

IF you are worried about what others think......then it is rice and don't do anything that might be considered rice.

I've got gauges in my NT. I got VDO gauges that match the stock gauges almost perfectly (I like black) I got an ammeter which is always useful if something shorts of the alternator, and since there's no turbo, you just get the vacuum gauge, very useful for finding vacuum leaks. It can be used to get better mileage too but i use it the other way.
