How well does Lojack work?

Just wondering how well Lojack works (I think I mispelled it)

On average how long does it take to locate the car. Because if it's any more then a few hours, all your your stuff is pretty much gone.

Lo Jack won't do anything to keep your car from getting stolen, but it can help in finding it. It's a radio transmitter that is triggered by Lo Jack when a police agency enters your VIN as stolen. Cooperating agencies have receivers in their vehicles for the signal from the Lo Jack, and a direction finder. When it works, it works really well; but it's not turned on until you file a report and the records are entered into NCIC, and not all police have the receiver (it is being adopted by more agencies all the time). Worst-case is when you're away on vacation or the like, and the thieves have a significant lead time from when it was stolen and when Lo Jack is activated.
