Projector headlight fix?

I just got my 1st gen projector headlights today, got a pretty decent deal on it.
I have heard many many horror stories about this rather pretty headlights. About fogging, burning out lights, water inside headlight etc.
Also i have heard people re-siliconing it, is it like OEM lights where you can pop it in oven? i really like these lights and i want to fix the problem before it happens.

I think he means the 1st generation projectors, not projectors made for a 1G.
