I see a lot of guys with FMICs cutting the stock 2Gb front opening larger, removing that ribbed section to promote airflow. It might sound goofy but I saw that as a worthwhile mod to do even if you don't have a FMIC. I have a Hahn SMIC that seems to be working very well and I like it a lot. It's a very high quality part and very efficient. I wanted more cooling airflow to the stock radiator so I cut that ribbed section out of the center opening. Seems like it has lowered my operating temps marginally. Plus it looks a lot meaner.
