i have a 96 talon tsi and when i bought it the auto to manual swap had all ready been done but the reverse lights dont work. I looked under the hood and the sensor on the tranny is hooked up so i took the center console out and there is a plug that is unplugged, i guess that plug went into the auto shifter. I did a search but didnt find much for a 2g. any help

Did you try turning the sensor? I know it is pretty sensitive and it has to be just right or the lights will not come on. My lights did not work when I bought the car, so I started messing with the sensor. I ended up having to add another washer to space the sensor out a little bit. I would put the car in reverse with the key in the on position and starting backing out the sensor and see if the lights come on. Also, there is a chance that the sensor is just bad and needs replaced.

so the plug where the center console is has nothing to do with the reverse lights ?

Nope no relevance. When I did my mt swap I had to use the harness piece from the m/t car and tap it to the wires for my car. Make sure they are attached to the correct wires. You can check to make sure the rest of the circuit is working properly by jumping one wire to the other by using a paper clip or something of the like. If the lights come on when you have the key on and the jumper in then you know its a problem with the sensor. If they don't light then its something wiring or bulb related. Good luck.

it looks like there are only 2 wires that come off my sensor, ill try jumping them. do i just connect both together via a paper clip and see if the lights come on? or is there more to jumping?

Nope that's it. Basically you are doing what the sensor does when you put it in reverse. Just providing a ground. Just make sure your ignition is on when you check it so the circuit has power.

okay so the connector isnt connected to anything. its connected to the tranny itself and there are 2 wires that come off it. I believe my car still has the Auto harness in it as there are several connectors that are unplugged. what wires do i attach them to on the auto harness ?
