1991 gsx leather?

I was wondering if you can recondition the leather in your car? I was told that if you get the 400 grit sandpaper and smoothed it off, then add.... like some fabric dye, or some shoe dye it makes it like new, are there any other ways to fix the cracked leather??? btw its just the front two seats.thanks
