Hi

I was reading about a-pillar pods and noticed that they (at least the ones i looked at) mounted with double sided tape. thats pretty ghetto.:barf: that seems like it would fall off really easily. does it? im lokking to buy the triple pod a-pillar mount by the way. is there another way to mount them such as screws? i really dont car how ugly it is (to an extent) just so it stays up there.

thanks!

The autometer ones that aren't full pillar don't stick on with double sided tape. They little plastic push though "screws". Looking at them they just look like little caps.

I had a dual a-pillar FULL replacement, and it stuck on with double sides tape too. It actually stays in place better if you leave the OEM pillar piece behind it.
Why dont they make them snap in just like the OEM apillar?

mine just snaps right in. i dunno what kind it is, it came with the car. i see some rivits at the top and one at the bottom. but behind it u can see it clips in. use the same type of clips that hold your trim panel behind your Intercooler but with no screw.

Has anyone tried the "super velcro" that Radio Shack sells for home speaker grille cover mounts? It's not like velcro, both sides are the same with wee tiny balls on stalks, and they interlock when pressed together. Which makes the question one of "who makes the best mounting tape", I figure try the stuff on it and if that dies, then 3M trim and badge tape.

Here is what I did . I got the autometer one. I took the stock piece with the clips on the back. cut the center stip out of the stock. Now you have a strip with clips on it. The I took 2 ton epoxy from lowes (this stuff is great) Then I epoxied(sp) the strip on the the autometer on and let it sit overnight. Then just snapped into place. This pillar mount has survived the accident seen in my gallery and in now in my GSX.

This looks like it was made for the car. Keeps from unsightly screws or that ghetto @ss velco or two way tape.

oops i lied. i took a closer look today. the rivits are through the stock panel. two at the top and one at the bottom that does jack $hit. it was pretty loose. so i seperated them, took some duct tape and made it so it would stick to the a pillar and the stock one. didnt seem to do much.

No one suggested Lo Tek gauge pods?

I've only heard good things about their fit and the way it matches so well to the rest of the interior. It screws into the pillar so it's not going anywhere and they have caps for the screws so that they don't look like sh!t. I got their 2 pillar pod.:thumb:
