I was wondering how to change the stock orange color stock look to blue lights. How do you ge back behind the dash to get at the lights? What lights to buy?

i know how to change the color for the HVAC controls.. very easy..I'll attach the instructions on how to do that..

as for the lights on the gauges themselves.. well i took mine apart and found that there is bout 15 diff. LED bulbs that can be changed out.. but u have to have the correct bulbs.. i havnt dont mine yet tho. cant find the right bulbs.. .. has anyone done theres? if so.. would u mind posting instructions on how it was done and where the bulbs can be purchased?=)

LED INSTRUCTIONS

you cant do it with the stock gauge overlays. i tried useing this bulb paint i got from Nopi and all it did was make it very dim and spotted orange and dim blue.

there are 7 lights that light up the gauges and they are clear lights. the gauge overlays are printed on orange film so you have to replace the gauge overlays with a new one.

what i did was get some new gauge overlays and changed the rest of my interior lights with blue leds. its a big hassle to do the leds, but worth it when your done!!!

Actually you can do it with the stock overlays, you just take sandpaper and sand off the orange backing. I just did that to turn mine from orange to white and it makes them a lot brighter as well. There is also a black/white dotted layer that you have to take off when you sand the orange off. This layer helps keep the light distribution even and when you take it off you will notice the lights look brighter near to the bulbs and a little dim in the corners of some of the gauges. I have a few ideas on how im going to even up the light distribution again, but for now im leaving it like that cause i have other things i need to work on. Later im going to do a complete color change on my interior with LEDs and ill figure it out then. It doesnt really look bad now as it is with the dimmed edges anyway.

I wouldn't even try puting a blue led back to the gauges. The white lights that light up the orange backing also supply the needles with light so what you wind up with is a blue back and purpleish blue needles. Very low contrast. I'd just stick with the blue led's in the hvac. Buy a blue backing for the gauges.

Thats prolly what im gonna do just change the Hvac and then get new guage faces for the rest. Thanks guys

good point=).. well just so u know the HVAC does work as long as u use exactly what they say.. and i have tried other colors .. such as yellow and green and red..and they are not bright enough..the only ones i have found to be bring enough is that blue led they suggest in the insturctions i have posted up above..
