Lowering my 1g Talon

I want to lower my talon but i don't understand how lowering a car works (I'm just beginning to learn about cars sorry).. Do i need lowering springs AND shocks?? Or can i just get one or the other.. And what about coil overs? They seem like a spring and shock put together ... Anyway i just need to know what i should get to lower my car, and any help is appreciated thanks.

If your going to lower your car save up the money first and do it right the first time. Yes you should get both springs and shocks when lowering your car. Now depending on how much you lower your car you may or may not need a camber kit. If you lower your car more than an inch I would recommend getting a camber kit.

Now for coilovers, if your going to go this direction its going to be alittle bit more money but will allow a more aggressive stance and you can adjust the hight. With coilover be looking to spend atleast $700-800 for a quality set.

Both spring and coilover have good qaulitys. It just comes down to personal preference and what you plan on using your car for.

thats not nessicarily true, its true if you plan on getting the full coil-over(racing coilovers) you can get a good qualitly Standard coil-over for under $350, but with that you should buy new shocks and struts, and you still get the good adjustable stance your looking for.

Lowering spring might be the cheaper way but you gotta remember how low you get if, for example if you live somewhere where it snows and if you buy a lower lowering spring 2-2.5" drop you might be plowing snow. Also with lowering spring you should get new shocks and struts

but in the end its pretty much up to the size of your wallet

There is a night and day difference is the ride between a $350 coilover and $700-800. If your going to DD the car, a dampering coilover (which will be $700-800) is a must or your going to be bounced around on every bump you hit, trust me it will get real old fast. IMO buying $350 coilovers is like buy lowering springs without shocks, its like doing things half-a$$.
