I know its been discussed alot, but not to many threads where anythings actually been done so I figured what the hell I would give it a go...Im pretty good with shit like this.

Heres a quick over view. I used construction paper to construct the overall layout of the shape and then modified it to where Im at now. The pictures are self-explanitory.

Also I just want to say this is not the one that will end up on the car, this is my DD and if I were to purchase rims and tires to actually fill the flare you see below.$$$$$..you get the idea. Another reason is because if you look at the last few pics you see how far I had to drop down the lip on the outside to get it to sit over the wheel to LOOK lowerd. I think it kindof looks stupid like that.... So I have started a new, more low-key flare that in my opinion looks way better flows well with the cars lines and best of all when Im done the car will have the illusion of being dropped (wheel gap wise) with out actually having to purchase the suspension or scrape everydamn bump and I wont have that ugly 4 inch verticle wall on the out side of the car. Ill post pics of the new one once I hit the welded steel stage, for now its under wraps.

Like I said this is my all looks DD ( not even an intake going on this car ) so Im just going to make it look damn good.

The car is going to be Black with a green pearl in the CC if anyone cars.

Heres the pics, remember its a work in progress this is no where near final anything..its almost ugly with that 4 inch lip on..anyway take a look

Good idea, bad execution. I like the idea of flares but just my opinion, yeah they are too wide.

Yea that why I said I wasnt using these ones, but now that I know its possible to weld the 22Ga steel Ill be alright on the good looking ones I made!

how do you plan on making the front bumper flow into them?

I wanted to give it a go myself, and I also wanted metal...so this custom makes for alot less bondo and all that. Heres the new one as of today. Its comming along, though I still have to grind down the rest of the welds and fill areas that need it. Its kindof tough to weld the 22Ga steel.

Im diggin' the second try not bad. Still alot to go but your definetly on the right track, much more then id ever be able to do.:thumb:

Ill post more pics as I go. Tomorrow I will beable to get to them all day hopefully so I should make some good progress. Im not starting the other side until this side is complete and primerd so I know it looks good and can even be done. Ill keep you all posted.

What are you planning to do to integrate the front bumper? Looks great man keep it up!

There will be an extension down the side of the bumper to make it complete. Im goin down to keep working Ill post back the progress tonight.

Personally, I think it looks goofy as hell. I don't understand why in the pictures your putting a second wheel next to the wheel on the car. And I don't think it flows well with the rounded body of the 2g. Keep updating pics though. I would like to see what it looks like finished..

The wheel is there so I can see how wide to make the lip to eliminate the wheel gap when I order my spacers.

Heres todays pics.... welded all the lines, then stripped it of all paint, then applied JB weld as a hard filler for suckass welding and then started the bondo process. I would have worked longer, but I start class tomorrow at 730 :sneaky:

Its molding nice, and starting to take the rounded shape. This is the first precise bondo work I have done so its taking sanding then apply, sand then apply...

Heres the pics.

Fabricating is a LONG and time extensive journey...You are doing a great job...I can visualize what you're going for through the last of your photos...Keep us posted and throw some primer on them so people who don't fab can see what you're going for...

Heres where Im at today...im finished for the night...just to much sanding and bondo.

They are in order of progression and the last pics has more unsanded bondo on it so thats why it looks funky, but it is taking shape.

Im hoping the other side goes much quicker as I will know how its done.
