Painting wheels

Alright i really like the stock GS_t wheels.
I want to paint them either Red...mitsu red...or black...they are going to be powdercoated then painted ...or however the place does it...its like 500 bucks what do you all think

Well I paid $100 to have 4 rims stripped w Aircraft stripper, primered, sealer, base coat, clear coat painted black.
$500 is alot of money. You could buy a brand new set of aftermarket 16's for that.

but the thing is i love these wheels......i wanna get em in chrome but i figured painted is as cool for me

Actually, I've never heard of getting something powdercoated then painted. Powdercoating is the actual finish, if you paint over it, then you just wasted the money to get it powdercoated. However, if you wanted to change the color of your wheels, powdercoating it would be the way to go, it's more durable than paint.

We can get powdercoating for under 50 a rim in the bay.

I don't know if dsmtrance still does powdercoating, but he was really cheap and a super nice guy to deal with. I bought the rims off his old car and they were WAY nicer than he had described them. Check out his profile to see his work.

IF you want them in chrome why don't you find someone selling them in chrome?? I thought the GS-T wheels had a line of chrome as well as aluminum??

Yeah, you can usually get a rim powdercoated for about 50 dollars per rim.

In Michigan Powder coating ranges from $60-$120 per rim depending who you take it too and what color you want . Having them dipped (chromed ) Cost between 80-120 per rim. I was going to powder coat my stock GSX rims but my oven was not big enough so I painted them . It cost me about $150 and about 40 hours to do.
