Sparco Steering Wheels

I am looking at getting the Sparco Lap3 steering wheel. Am I going to need some kind of install kit for the car? I am going to take the airbag out, but I was just wondering if the wheel will bolt right up. If I do need some kind of adapter, what do I need and where can I find it??? By the way the wheel is going on a 99 Spyder.

You will need a steering wheel hub that Sparco also sells.

It's around 50-60 bucks.

I decided to get sparco speed seats and harnesses instead of getting a steering wheel. I will get the wheel at a later time. I should have pics in a couple of days.

Give me a call when they start using airbags in F1, NASCAR, AHRA, SCCA or any other sanctioned event. About the LAST goddamned thing I need is a fvcking rocketsack going off in my face and blowing my hands away from the wheel just when I MOST have to drive.

In '74, I T-boned a Volvo that had run a stop sign in front of my VW when I was doing 45. Totalled both cars, all I got was bruises on my hips from the 3-point seatbelt. I never got close to the wheel.

Check into Morton-Thiokol, the company that makes the rockets for the airbags. Read some industry opinions from the 70's, when the airbag idea was being forced down the throats of the manufacturers.

Apologies, personal sore point. I hate the goddamned things. YMMV

I'd rather have an airbag (which is able to be disabled rather easily) installed by the mfr than those stinking automatic seatbelts, which are also considered "passive restraints."

ive seen friends in accidents and by far the worst injury's i've seen were caused by the bag, burn the face scratch cornia's, my friend had to wear a patch for 2-3months, i rather have a cake come out of the wheel and hit me in the face when i get in a accident

Tell me when you get rid of your stock wheel. My airbag cover is dry and it's like leather is peeling off the centerpiece. I want to get the stock wheel, but the dealer told me it was way too expensive because of the airbag. (I can't afford it.) Tell me how much you'd let your stock one go for. PM me!

There is, or just was, one on (dare I say it? Dare, dare!) eBay for around $100. The bags come and go, bargains are to be found.
