You have to use something like heat gun to the adhesive off pull the cover off and carefully scrape off the orange.

Okay so put in them in the oven (what temp? duration?) and scrape off the amber material (what tool should i use to do this?) Will my headlights become foggy after this procedure?

No, they wont get foggy, just remember to wipe out the inside real good before u put it back in the oven. I did mine at about 200 deg. for like 5 min. to get it off. To put it on, just split the time in half and do it in shifts making sure you push it together real tight.

OK OK I have the remedy. I did this mod this past summer and it turned out really well. All you have to do is out the entire headlight assemblies in the oven ( minus bulbs ) around 200 degrees and keep your eyes on them. I say no longer than 5 minutes. Keep checking on them to make sure that they are okay. Then you pry them apart. You DO NOT I repeat DO NOT have to "scrape" the amber off. The is actually an amber lense that you unscrew. Only two small screws. Then you clean the assembly as necessary and seal them up with the a good silicone sealant. Thats all there is to it. you can do it on a few hours if you are rolling along. Hope this helps.

I did this mod two nights ago. I took the lights out which was the hard part. Put them in the oven at 300 deg at 5 to 7 min. split the lights apart and the amber reflector is screwed in. i removed the amber reflector and the silver around the light. I painted the silver part red to match my car and put it back. It was a cool mod.

If it is cool then show us!

I will post some pics. I'm at work so give me some time. I also had my wife use her auto cad and design mitsu logos for the bumper lights. Put the logo on sticky back paper put them on the lights and painted them. When i turn on my lights all you see is the lighted mitsu logo.

I did that a week ago. They turned out great, don't let them sit in there long though, I screwed up and left the drivers side in too long, and turned the bottom corner white. Here's a pic of the passenger side. I have more in my gallery. oh, by the way, you shouldn't need any silicon to out them back together, just push them together as well as you can, then put them back in the oven for a couple of minutes then push them back together, if they won't go together all the way, put back in for a couple of minutes and push them back together. Repeat this until they are tight.

on the newer models 97-99.. it takes more then just the metal clips to pull em apart.. .. how do u do this without breaking the lenses? do u put them in the oven and then pry the silicon apart? just wanna make sure before i do it..

The 97-99 is the same as the 95-96. Remove all those little clips, put the headlight in the oven(minus the bulbs) at 200-250, whatever you feel safer with, let it sit in there for 3-5 minutes. Watch it like a hawk, they will melt. Pull it out of the oven, pry it apart. You may want a knife or razor blade on hand to cut the sealent when your prying. After they are apart, let cool, do any painting that needs done, and if you want, you can remove the amber lens by removing the two srews that holds it in( I recomend this :thumb: ). After paint is dry, reassemble the headlight, put ir back in the oven for a couple of minutes, then squeeze back together for a tight fit. Replace clips to hold it together. Hope that helps.
