Found a nice european-spec 1Ga with a bad motor (timing belt, as usual)

It has all the options that I wanted to put onto my '90 laser ie: complete power doors, A/C, nicer interior, rear wiper, etc.

The removable body panels are all also in much nicer shape than mine, and the front fenders have the JDM/Euro required side-markers, factory installed, plus the tail lights with amber turn signals. :thumb:

Getting the car for $600 US.

Here comes my question now, and YES I SEARCHED. So does someone know, and can point me in the right direction, on the ins and outs of hooking up the power windows and locks in a car without them? A website with the info would be great.

Is all the wiring already present in the car?

My car is a '90, will it matter if the donor car is a 91+? I know it does for the ECU and what-not.

The power lock, i dont know how you would do that, because there is a control box in the car that accepts the signal from the fob. The windows, you'll have to swap the door panels and run a power source to the motor to control the windows. If you can get your hands on the manual on CD, that will help a lot.

Hope that helps a little.

Is the body on the new car bad? Seems like it would be easier to swap your motor/setup into it, of course you'd need to combat the ecu issue but that would be easier then having to setup everything into the 90.

The problem with that would be that the donor car is European Spec, and I'm being shipped back to the States next year, and I'm not sure how difficult it would be to convince the customs people that the car is in fact built in the US as a US spec car, then shipped to Mitsu europe and converted when it gets here. I have to double check, but I'm pretty sure all the Emissions and safety crap is still intact.

Other issue with the Euro spec cars, it doesn't come with the Automatic Strangulators, it has normal seat belts, and this also may be an issue because IIRC, none of the 1g's come with airbags, and at this point in automotive history, it was either auto belts, or you needed to put an airbag in it.

It would be very nice to be able to keep the Euro car, since it's in MUCH nicer condition, and it has most of the options that came with the GS cars. (and the A/C actually still worked before the timing belt broke!!) LOL

BTW, why would I need to combat the ECU issue if I'm swapping another 4G63 n/a into it? Couldn't I just use all the electrical stuff from the bad engine on the '90 engine?
