Allright, I'm buying the Autometer INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEZEL for an Autometer Boost Guage. I wan't to match up every guage (Tach, Speedo, Fuel, Water Temp, and either Oil Temp/Oil Presure/Or Nitrous)<~~~I don't know which one yet. But what I need from you guys, is the size of the Tach and Speedo (Stock) and the size of the (Stock) Fuel/Temp and Boost/Oil. Also I need to know what kind of guages would I need for each application?
Tach: Mechanical or Electrical?
Speedo: Mechanical or Electrical?
Fuel: Mechanical or Electrical?
Water Temp: Mechanical or Electrical?
*Boost: Mechanical or Electrical?
**Oil: Mechanical or Electrical?
Nitrous: Mechanical or Electrical?

*Will I need a Boost Guage, or a Vacume/Boost Guage?
**Which Guage Would Be Better? Temp or Pressure?

I guess nobody knows what size the guages are? Common you people have done mods and had to upgrade ####, you all should know. Is the stock tach and speedo guages 4.5" or 5" or what?

First of all its Gauge. Nobody sells guages. Tachs are only available electronic. They sense electrical pulses from the ignition. A mechanical tachometer would be more hassle than anything, if one were available. An electrical speedo would be best as you can calibrate it. A mechanical would do fine tho. I don't know if you're going to be able to adapt an electrical speedo to your tranny as it requires a sending unit on the transmission. A mechanical speedo requires that your stock speedo cable will hook up to it. I haven't seen anyone do either of these or record of it to confirm that its even feasable. Fuel level gauge will have to be electrical as it gets a resistance value from your fuel tank sending unit and displays accordingly. Again you'll need one with the correct calibration for the sending unit, which is AROUND 0 ohms full and 100 ohms empty, maybe more empty. Otherwise a universal sender and gauge. Many gauges are only available electronic or mechanical for reasons like practicality and safety. A vac/boost gauge is nice, but a matter of preference - if you're not concerned about anything but boost pressure, go boost. Otherwise get the vac/boost. Generally electronic gauges are more expensive, but more compact without vac/boost lines, oil lines, fuel lines, etc running thru your firewall. Wires don't leak and take up less space. As for size, if you're going to be replacing your stock instrument cluster you can make about anything fit. Be creative and take your time and the results will be impressive.

Umm, I don't know when I asked for a lesson on things I allready knew, I was just wanting the info on what the 2GTAWD's specs were, Which I allready know except for Size. You didn't realy help at all. Thx Air, I like things simple.

To add to what 89PROOF said.Mechanical Fuel,Oil pressure gauges are designed to be mounted outside the car.All of my gauges are Electrical except my Boost/Vac gauge...As for size you can use what ever. The only tach i've seen replace the stock is Apexi El..which is going to cost you some dollars.Let us know how it turns out.

I just bought a 1990 Talon AWD and the previous owner had an A-pillar boost gauge , but it was stolen. The only thing left is two small wires. There is no vacuum tube at all which makes me think it was an electric gauge. Are electric gauges as accurate? Should I go w/ a replacement one or go for a mechanical gauge?

so you want to replace every guage in the stock dash with autometer guages + add in the two extra guages that the autometer thing adds.

or do you just want to add the two guages to match the stock guages.

you do know that the bezel only adds two autometer guages and doesn't replace everything in the dash. it'll look kind of like this.

90LaserTurbo, I know more then you could imagine involving that. I'm going to replace everything in that picture with Auto Meter. The stock gauges are not acurate, Also I can mod the Auto Meter gauges how I see fit. What I'm doing is....I'm going to install the Dash Pod, Install a Boost and Oil Pressure A/M Gauge there, Replace the stock tach and speedo with the same size A/M Ultra-Lite gauges, then in the stock holes where the stock Oil Pres, boost, Fuel and Water temp were, I'm going to put an A/M Fuel Gauge on the right side, and the Water Temp A/M Gauge on the left side, Then I'm going to buy a Dual Pillar Gauge Pod and install a EGT Gauge and leave the second hole for something else that I might need. Soo, thats why I wanted to know the size of the stock Tach in Diameter and the same for the Speedo, I allready know the size of the other holes are 2 1/16", So everything except for the Tach and Speedo will be 2 1/16"s in Diameter. I did this exact project with my '87 Accord LXi, I ####ed up the stock temp and tach gauges and said screw it and went out and used my discount and replaced everything with Auto Meter Ultra Lite, it looks hella tight and they are totaly acurate.

Ohh yea, I won't be doing it now, I say it will be.....4 months before I get to that, maybe more because I am holding off my engine mods for my aerodynamics for now. But once I start to get a few things going on my engine mods, I'm going to go all out on Auto Meter, and I will have a new camera or scanner by then for pictures.

I'm not going to argue with you about this InfiniteGSX, but what do you know more about than everyone here can imagine? Putting fart mufflers, huge tips, red touch-up paint, and 14" alloys with low profile tires on 4 doors? You're a 17 year old high school kid into "tuning and racing" thats asking about mechanical tachs, mechanical fuel gauges for your dash, and generally unspecific questions and getting upset when people try to help you. Try scanning your stock gauges and photoshopping them to say "Autometer" and print em out. I saw your '87 Accord and to be honest I laughed so hard I could hardly breathe. And you're worried about onverting a TSI AWD to a GSX for a rally car? You only come on here to argue about wings and talk about being anti-honda while having an accord, and be disrespectful to those trying to help you. Read dsm.org vfaq.com and stop contradicting yourself. http://photos.yahoo.com/motegi_mr7

Autometer gauges are hardly a dash replacement.

This is what the hardcore guys use.

Yes, you can get gauges with higher readings than 8k.
