Anyone have pictures of how the Side Skirts are mounted, I know it uses tabs, but my car does not have sides as it is an rs, just looking for some guide pictures.

The sideskirts are mounted with a combination of screws and clips. The screws mount the sideskirts underneath the car. The clips snap into holes in the side of the car. Pretty easy when I did it. Since you have a RS you might need to bore new holes for the clips along the side. Here are a couple pics of when I did the job. Notice the white clips in the pics... And yes, I do document everything that I do to my car. And by the way, this was when I did the 2Gb conversion, it included the skirts, door caps and fender cap/moulding (part at the bottom of the fender).

fyi if you dont want to start drilling holes in your door you can use window weld to mount the skirts and just have the screws hold by the wheel wells. my 98 didnt come with skirts and i put on 95 talon skirts and thats what i used. it could get a little messy but it definetly holds on great after all it holds your windows in place.

TrboANTsi:

I noticed in the 2008 calender submissions that you had a 2gb talon with 2ga talon skirts. And the white one with the gold rims that you had a picture of is a 420A i think, so his didn't come with 2ga Tsi skirts either.

I was going to ask you both how you mounted them - if you drilled holes for tabs, or if you used double-sided tape, etc - because I plan to get those same side skirts eventually as well.

Anyway, so you used that window stuff. Do you think double-sided tape on the side of the car and screws underneath would work well?

the white one is actually a 95 420a so his came wiht the skirts he swaped out the bumpers thats why he has no side strakes. i originally used 3m heavy duty double sided tape. but it started to come loose after a while like a month after. now after i put window weld on it its been 1yr and this skirt holds with no worries. i wasnt about to start drilling holes then risk getting rust from the holes i made. i even put the window weld on the side skirt tabs jjust about anywhere i could put it on..but be warned its messy as hell. have patience or dont bother.

The "right" way would be to drill holes and clip them in. But most people just get the 3m double sided tape and have great results. Just make sure you get the kind made for this application. Not something cheap, then you will have problems.

What kind of pop in screws do you get from an auto store or lowes to connect the skirts to the body?

You can't buy the mounting clips at a local parts store as they don't fit. You have to get them from Mitsu. Let me know which parts of the sideskirt you want to mount and I'll get you part numbers.

Yes, you can get those clips from Advance Auto; that's where I got mine. They come about 5 per pack and look similar to the red clips that are used to mount your door panels. You just have to go down the aisle and look for them, I did the same shit.

Now, when I went into my local Advance (and AutoZone, and Pepboys), none of the clips looked close to what I had in my hand. And I also talked to a guy that worked at AutoZone and he said they didn't carry clips that worked as he tried them all already (he had a 2g Eclipse). Maybe they carry different parts then, who knows.

I'd probably go ahead and drill the holes and get the clips. I was too lazy to go find the clips so I stole them out of the wheel wells off my explorer. Popped in fine and held the side skirts up perfectly (my 95 was getting lazy or something and the side skirt started sagging, maybe the wife broke that too after she molested my door handle and broke that :(). But the weld is holding up really good for TrboANTsi so maybe you could check out that route. I just think the clips would be more reliable, just my 4 pennies worth :p I charge double the rate, so no 2 cents for me :(~

Go to Lowes or Home depot. Then find the hardware section. You'll see cabinets and cabinets of bolts, washers, nuts, studs, etc. The push screws are in there too and they have chrylser, dodge, ford. Guess I answered my own question.
