anyone got any suggestions? whats some good amps out there, that arent too expensive, should i buy a capacitor?.. Id like to have something loud without blowing anything up..

The Specs for the Type R:

Peak Power Handling 1500Watts
RMS Power Range 200-500Watts
Impedance ( Ohms ) 4
Dual Voice Coil Yes
Sensitivity 85dB
Frequency Response 50-500Hz
Cone Material Kevlar Reinforced Pulp
Surround Material Rubber
Frequency Response: 25Hz - 500Hz

I have a cap sadly it didn't do much I ended up installing a second battery. But I run two amps an Alpine mrd-605 and a JL 300/4.

The harder and cleaner you want your sub to hit you're going to be looking for power but not more then the max rms. So something in the 450-500 watt range would be optimal.

Since you have a dual 4 ohm voice coil you will be looking for something that gives that power at 2 ohms since that would be the impedance if wired the optimal way. Check out the Rockford Fosgate website for more information on that.

I would recommend a mono or also called single channel amp. Less wiring coming out of the amp and a higher chance you will get the power at the desired impedance for a decent price. Stay away from no name brands as with amps like everything else, you get what you pay for and you never get the desired wattage. You can do some more research on your own in this area. For that check out (www.caraudioforums.com)

There are many different options for the 500rms @ 2 ohms. If you're interested in e-bay check out

others which I will list that you can search for would be the Alpine MRP-m450 the
Kenwood KAC-8103D and the Eclipse XA1000 are a few examples. Like I said many times on this, you get what you pay for but you can get a good deal. The Memphis one listed above in the ebay add is quite a good deal if it is indeed in working condition like it states.

If you have any other questions shoot me a PM or make a post back here. - Alex

That Memphis amp is awesome!

Pretty much, from my experience with the Type R's... Don't underpower them. I had two in the back of my 2G...

Awsome Subs... Now I have 4 Alpine Type X's in a custom enclosure in the back of my new Jeep.

So make sure you use something within the RMS Specs... Even a little above would be good... Underpowering a sub, is just as bad as overpowering it.
