I have not tried these, but do know a bit about HIDs. First of all, retrofitting will be your best and safest option because if you just put an HID kit in our reflector headlights, you will be blinding oncoming traffic and they will not look as good. That is the reason for the cutoff line in projector headlights. Yes, you will be saving money, but it just won't be safe to drive around and it will increase your chances of being pulled over by the cops.

Also, why would you want to get 8000k bulbs? I wouldn't recommend getting anything higher than 4100k or 4300k, otherwise the color just becomes too blue/purple. For the best visibility with HID's, the 4100k or 4300k are your best choice. Once you start getting above 6000k, they just aren't as good. If you were doing this on a show car, then I'd say by all means, go for them.

I'm not 100% sure on the answer to that one. But if you put an HID light in a reflector headlight, it's going to spread the light everywhere (since the setup is for a non-HID bulb). With a projector headlight, it is more concentrated and is a proper setup for an HID bulb. But the brightness is more related to the bulb temperature. 4100k or 4300k will be brighter than 6000k or 8000k.

A proper retrofit makes a night and day difference over just installing your HID kit into Ebay projectors. With the kit installed in your stock reflector housings, you would have a significant amount of light but it will also be illegal. The glare would be tremendous causing oncoming traffic to not be able to see properly.

I once had my Ebay HID kit installed in my stock housings and when I let my friend drive my car I was very surprised at the amount of glare, even trees were lit up.

Then my next option was to install another Ebay kit into some Ebay projectors and the glare was very minimal but the light ouput wasn't what I wanted but still a lot brighter than stock headlight housings with Silverstars and the Ebay projectors also provided a cutoff.

After doing alot of research I finally completed my retrofit and the difference was night and day with a perfect cutoff after alot of adjusting.
