okay guys, I want to hardwire a radar detector because i hate using my cigg lighter for anything, i find it tacky, has anyone ever done it yet? if so, how?

nuttin to it -- hack the cig lighter end off -- wire it in to anything +12v swtiched in your car (fuse box..etc) you can just unscrew the cig lighter also- that way you can tell witch wire is positive -- the positive wire will be the one that attaches to the middle contact in the end of the adapter

Just run the wires from the radar detector to the back (behind the dash) of the cig. lighter, tap them into the wires (power and ground) and the radar will turn on and off with the ignition. This eliminates the need to install a switch or add another fuse (the cig. lighter is already fused.)
