installing door speakers

the scenario. I have a 98 eclipse gs. I purchased a pair of 6.5 kenwood speakers to relplace the ones in my door. I cannot get the speaker grills off because of the plugs behind them holding them down. So my questions

1) do i need to take the entire door panel off to properly get to the speakers. If not how do i do it.

2) currently i have a stock deck i breifly read that underpowering it will damage the speakers.

I have searched and searched but i either can't find the proper answers or i dont' understand the slang because i am an audio install novice.

Yes you have to take the door panel off, and do you have the "infinity" stereo package...if so I wouldnt worry about.

to take the panel off there are two screws along the bottom half, two by the door hinges, and of course you have one down in the ash tray/hand hole. Then you need to take off the handle cover on the inside. i think thats all of them

No i dont' have the infinity system. My left speaker cuts in and out so i decided just to replace them

I installed them yesterday. they work perfect thanks for the help
