alrighty. i want my system to sound good. i dont want bass that the hole neighborhood is goin to hear. i was think 2 10's would be good. the guy at circuit city says 2 10's. but what amplifier. i bought 2 pioneer impp 400 subs in a box for 90 bucks. cant beat it. what kind of amp sould i use and what power should it be. i dont want headache bass. i want it to sound like a complete system. thanks. peace.

Well first off I would not go to circuit city to get ANY kind of stereo. 2nd off...im assuming you want Sound Quality out of your subs correct? If so I would go w/ the 10's and it all depends on you budget for the brand of subs. I'm no expert but I know a few things about subs and amps. Give us some more info.

i didnt buy anything at circuit city. they are too much. an old friend works there and he knew quite a bit. i bought the 2 10's. the pioneer impp 400W's. in a box from a friend for 90 bucks. good deal. anyways. i only wanted to spend around 100 bucks for an amp. i didnt need that much power. just enough to move them. i want to have some low end to my music. the little 6 1/2's arent doin it for me. ppl said to go to 6x9's. but to buy good 6x9's i could get a small system to make it sound good and complete. i bought a jesen 300W amp and hooked it up in the parking lot. sounds pretty spankin good, not headache bass but it is there. inputs. peace.

the guys at circuit city are retards, never go to a place for car audio that doesnt specialize in it. Go to places like Tweeter or any of your local car audio shops. For an amp to power those subs go with a mono amp to power your car. my amp of choice is the Alpine MRV-T420(my amp) its awesome but on the flipside I am also running 3 JL W0-8 subs so it takes a little more power but I only have it running on 33% and it slams. BUT STAY AWAY FROM PLACES LIKE CIRCUIT CITY!!!

So would Best Buy be a good place then....

i use 1 MTX blue thunder 10" in a vented bandpass box coupled to an MTX blue thunder amp pushing 200 watts rms, and i have plenty of bass to spare my deck runs in negative numbers for tuning.

Well, since you guys know yer stuff so well, explain to us all how 2 Pioneer Impp subs in any bow will give sound quality. What is the FS, XMAX, Vmax, or Vof on these subs? Look, 2 subs sound neat to every audio guy, but to run the proper amount of juice to 2 subs (I'm guessing that they need at least 150 watts each RMS), you will have a ton of sound, and being that Pioneer subs in general have a high FS, you may find that you turn the subs up to hear the low stuff. This will alert the whole neighborhood to your presence. I suggest one sub in a sealed box running 2Vof. 12's seem the most clear, and a good Alpine, Infinity or other clear sub will only need like 200 watts RMS to keep from burning. Alpine V-12's are clean amps, as are Clarion and Memphis gold. Look for THD (the smaller the number the lower the distortion) and RMS (most amps are labeled in peak, the good ones are listed in RMS). Stay away from D-class amps unless you're running loud enough to cancel out the distortion, which you don't sound like you will. Oh, 70% of blown subs are the product of not enough power which causes the voice coils to over heat due to poor cooling. Check out the Car Stereo Cookbook for more info.

ok....i know eryone's sayin dont go to best buy or circuit city, but if you want an amp for around $100, best buy has a 450w lightning audio amp for $90, its 80 if u get it on sale..i got it cuz i was tight on cash...its 450x1 @4ohms max, 75 rms x2 @ 2ohms, 50rms x2 @ 4 ohms. so it pushed 1 10" in a bandpass box pretty good..you could hear it across the street.. yea its a cheap amp but if ur only trying to spend $100 id look at it.

"What is the FS, XMAX, Vmax, or Vof on these subs?"

ok, come on..I do not even bother w/ those variables.....thats a little too much info too ask for a small setup...

i would suggest one 12 inch sub, more then enough for everyday use.

sorry to take so long to get back to ya. thanks for all the input. haha, well, dont hate me but i have 2 impp 400w pioneer 10's in a hatchback box with a jensen 300w amp. it sounds pretty good. i have the amp at middle settings and the head unit the same. a jvc 45x4. i turn the amp up and my buddy 2 blocks away came to the house and asked what i had. i said 2 10's , he told me he was fooled very badly. he didnt thinkl anything could sound like that from 10's. i love it. thanks. peace.
