Rear speakers installation...gimme an idea here

Ok guys my friend is selling me some MB Quart 6x9s he had in his Civic for $50. They're in good shape and all, and I was curious if someone could give me a step by step walkthrough on installing them.

Do ya just take the grille off and the speaker comes out, or do you have to tear that whole back panel off that the speaker hides behind. If it's THAT big of a deal I'll take it to a shop. I also heard mounting depth is very critical in DSMs for the rear. FYI its a 97 RS.

i was trying to find out what speakers i had back there and i just popped the cover off. be sure to have some needle nose pliers or something that will bend the metal back to ensure a good fit when u put it back on, if not it will rattle.

removing the whole back panel is VERY easy- i dont think the grill is ment to be removed by itself.

you are correct the grills are not to be removed, the back panels can be removed with ease, a couple of screws and they come right off.

as for mounting the speakers the mounting is pretty straight forward.
take the old ones out, and wire the new ones in.

the whole process should take about 20-30 mins for the whole job

Well those 6x9s I got fit at the top but not the bottom. So I called up the local stereo shop...they're putting them in Monday at 3. He's done a lot of 6x9 installs in an Eclipse so he knows what he's doin. Plus I got some sweet PPI subs for a good deal so that's coming soon too. Thanks for your help guys.

6x9's will fit, if they are the right depth. Not many companies make 6x9's that small, but there are a few. There are also spacers you can install to give you some more depth.
