so im driving back to az from cali and to prevent rocks and debris from dinging my front bumper I was thinking of covering it with painters tape. I saw this on a wide body mr2 in some bullrun pics. Just wondering if anyone has tried this.

That's what we do when we go to shows and have to drive a long distance to protect the paint :thumb:

Another alternate to the masking tape is the 3m rock guard film. This method wouldn't be as cheap as the tape but its practically invisible. It may not be the best for the hood but it works great for the front and rear bumpers and really good on the lower side skirts that usually get chewed up. The great thing about it is you can leave it on permanently and only stick it on the most problematic spots without everyone asking what the hell is all that blue tape for.

You could also go to a local freight shipper and ask for automotive wrap. Its white and electrostatic. just peel off the backer, and roll it on.
If you've ever seen a car hauler before, its the same product used on the fronts and rears of the cars to protect from road debris, sun, and small birds.

Although 3m makes a great product mentioned above, when installed right is invisible from a few feet away.
