Someone hit my car wiseman needs some help!

Hey guys I haven’t been posting here much recently because I haven’t had a lot of time to work on my projects. The car in question is a 97 Eagle Talon. Some big pickup truck hit it in a parking lot and screwed up the front bumper cover and one of the headlights along with some bumper support damage. The insurance company gave me 2500 bucks which I'm not sure is enough to complete this project using OEM replacement pieces and while I'm at it I would always like to upgrade. I have a few questions that I was hoping some of the more knowledgeable people on here could help me with.

1. What’s up with these ebay projector headlamps? Would they fit on a 97 Talon like the stock lights would? Can someone point me to a specific ebay link? The car is black so I'm trying to decide if the black projectors would be ricer or look nice. I'm also looking to add HID bulbs when I'm at it. I've read a few post that you can get it “close enough” with the ebay projectors and well aimed bulbs. Also if anyone has done an HID retro fit in the Baltimore City area shoot me a PM.

2. I've looked into VIS hoods but I don’t see a specific link for Talons. Do they make hoods for the Eagle? Can someone post a link?

3. Bumper covers. I need a new front bumper. Is that something that I can have the body shop order or should I try to hit up ebay for that as well?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

the 95-96 eclipse projectors will fit fine on your talon and the vis hood for the eclipse is the same as your talons hood. and talon bumper covers are near impossible to find on ebay so just let the body shop handle that

the hood style is the same from 95-99 for eclipse and talon body styles so all you have to worry about is the style of hood you want
im partial to this one but the oem style carbon fiber hood is also very clean looking

That is a bit aggressive for my taste and it would also be tricky in an area with as much snow as we get. Thank you very much for all your help. Any HID experts in the bmore area let me know.

hit up ebay and the classified im sure a stock hood can be found fairly cheap. As far as the hids go they are expensive and its a lot of work to do the proper retrofit on the projectors. just get a set of silverstar bulbs cause those things work awesome

The ebay projector headlights are tempting due to their low cost but I know a couple of guys with them that are not very happy. The light level is not adequate. On high beam they put out about as much light as regular OEM. There are often used OEM on ebay but even they are not cheap. IMO stay with OEM unless you either A, can't afford them or, B, you want the slightly more modern look of the projectors. Go with HID's if you have extra stacks of cash lying around that you don't know what to do with.

Does anyone have any specific feedback on these xtra lights? I would like to go HIDs is possible. I had set in my GVR4 in the glass housing. That housing wasnt anywhere near as nice as even the ebay housings and I was VERY happy with the light level and color. It was very nice in foggy weather and in pitch black highway driving and I do a lot of both.

I have these and am extremely happy with them! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-96...QQcmdZViewItem

I would also highly recommend silverstar lights. Although HID lights are extremely tempting, for a car as old as ours I don't see the reasoning for spending that kind of money for them. But thats a personal opinion. Also, as far as black housing or chrome go. I very much like the chrome, but again thats personal preference.

I can't really help you with the carbonfiber hood except to mirror what others have already said, the 95-99 Eclipse factory hoods would work with your car. So any carbon hood that would fit the eclipse would be fine with your car.

I have a extra 98 front bumper cover for my Talon but I haven't installed it yet. I purchased mine on e-bay awhile ago, but I'll tell you, they are hard to come by on e-bay. Maybe someone can help you with the factory NSN number for the item. Hope that helps alittle.

If you're going to go to hid do a proper retrofit. Just because the ebay housings are projector based, doesn't mean they are designed for the hid bulb.

You know, I was just thinking about it, have you checked out the classified's here for a front bumpercover? Surely with all the people who do conversions (Talon to Eclipse) Someone must have one laying around. Maybe someone who has one will chime in and help you out. I think the 2Gb Talon front bumpercovers are awesome.

Yeah, they're not designed for it but it's a hell of lot better than people driving around with HID's in their stock housings blinding people all over the road (Yes, I see it everyday from the Honda boys)

A retrofit is the best way to get that perfect cutoff and better light output but it is time consuming and takes skills to do and also costs a pretty penny unless you can get deals like I did when I did my retrofit.

And to the OP:

I would suggest just getting all OEM parts except for the hood, a CF hood is a very tasteful addition to any car IMO. Speaking from experience, before I did my retrofit I had those Ebay "plug and play HID kit" installed in my Ebay projectors and the light output was brighter than stock and still gave somewhat of a cutoff. These HID kits are cheaper nowadays on Ebay and can be had for $150 shipped. Now, I don't recommend it but it is an option that you have or like someone said above just get Silverstars.
Get that VIS OEM CF hood please, I have one and I'm still in love with it today just as the first day I got it. I would also suggest a Eclipse conversion while you're at it. Stock 2gb Talon bumpers can be very hard to find and with the availability of 2gb Eclipse bumpers on Ebay I would suggest you just do the conversion, especially since you're getting new headlights already.

i got my bumper cover from chrysler. you have to specify 97-98 bumper cover(since your car is a 97) and it wont come with the eagle emblem so you have to order it. you also might be able to sweet talk a body shop to order the bumper for you and probably get it cheaper.
