smaller steering wheel

Has anyone installed any other steering wheel (aftermarket or evo's)??

I was thinking about buying an Lan Evo steering wheel (assuming that is smaller in diameter than 2G's) so I won't have the huge steering wheel...

Would it still work with the SRS airbag? Has anyone done this or thought of doing this???

well.. that's why i posted this on the non-performance mods... the reason i want to do this is because i'm looking for a small steering wheel with airbags ( just to be legal) and i am tired of having such a huge steering wheel coz it hits my thigh even if the steering wheel is all the way up.

How is it not legal to ditch the airbags? After all, there are cars that don't come with them.

some laws were made out of boredom , that's how. i think it is stupid also, but it is illegal to remove any airbags in a car that has them, unless there is a off switch installed by the manufacturer(sp? - it's early). just use a evo steering wheel (if they will fit) or use a 1g steering wheel. unless you get pulled over for doing something stupid and a cop REALLY knows the inside of a DSM, then you are ok.

1G steering wheel comes with airbags??

i'm only looking for a steernig wheel with air bag. since i'm not going for show... i just want a smaller steering wheel with airbag.

I don't think you'll be able to find one with an airbag.

Yes it is illegal to remove steering wheels from vehicles that come equipped with airbags in them. Will a cop notice, probably not. Just ask how many people have been given tickets for having an aftermarket steering wheel.

Do 1g's have airbags? Not as far as I know, mine doesn't. And a sparco would look so much nicer!

A lighter steering wheel may not help in the performance category but you'll feel more comfortable when you are racing. You're sweating hand is more likely to slide off when you're holding rubber or leather as opposed to alcantara or suede.

phastalon: I'm not looking for a lighter steering wheel, I am looking for a smaller one tho... i just don't want that huge thing in front of me because I keep hitting my knee while i'm driving.

dsm steering wheels are pretty large, but i wouldn't think about giving up my airbags...

Well, I would just not make a habit of getting pulled over then, that's all. But the more important question is- will the car pass state inspection with an aftermarket wheel?

I believe MOMO sells a steering wheel with an airbag. But it cost alot of money. If not MOMO, maybe Isotta or Sparco?

I too want smaller steering wheel. I can't heel toe, becase my leg can't really move that much. My legs keep hitting the wheel. But I don't want to lose my airbag unless I have some kind of harness on.
