I have a problem, call it a big problem. . .to me at least. My car has no performance hopes, so I have to rely on making her look presentable. I have a 2G talon black exterior, but some ***hole made the interior beige . . .yeah. Say what you will, "its sposed to come that way" well NO, beige looks dum as hell unless its leather in an RX-7 and they didnt confuse the 2 cars at the factory. How hard is it to Vinyl paint to stupid beige pieces in the car? Can most of everything (door panels etc) be removed? Cuz until i find whoever it was that played this cruel trick on me, i will have to deal with it on my own.

almost anything can be taken out of the interior, you just gotta know where the bolts, screws, or plastic retainers are, and how to go about removing them. i'm not an expert on a 2g, but my friend has one and i know it fairly well. we have taken some of it apart to paint the interior....ORANGE, his dumb@ss idea...dont ask!!! yes, i think his looks ###, but i wouldnt tell it to his face, thats just wrong.

here you go:

trunk area: pop off any screw covers (they are VERY noticable) and take out the screws. start with the middle section (this is very easy). dont forget the screws covered by the spare tire cover.

back seat area: pull the little black retaining tabs underneat the "butt" area of the backseat and lft it out of the car. the mounting bolts for the back part of the rear seats will become apperant, so its easy to remove those. the screws for the side walls in the backseat area are also exposed by this point. this is very easy to do.

front seats: bolts at all four corners (i THINK they are 12 or 14mm, but im not sure). watch out..those spring loaded seats (assuming you dont have power seats) can catch your fingers!

radio/center console: carefuly pry off the black trim around the radio/heat and a/c controls. remove the radio mounting bracket and unplug the harnesses. remove the two screws holding the top of the center consol to the dash. pull out the ashtray/cupholder assembly and remove the two screws under there. pry out the two screw caps behind the front seats on the back of the center consol and remove the screws. unplug the cig lighter connector. carefully rip the center console over the hidiously placed emergency brake and intollerable shifter. ;)

a/c controls: hard as hell. dont even try it. if you DO, remove the lower wire connections for the "inside or outside air draw" conroller first (the bottom slider), as well as the hot/cold controller. you may be able to reach the "blower position" knob controller wire as well (i cant remember). use a very small set of needle nose plyers to do this. dont be concerned with crimping up the retaining brackets before the mounting point, you can stretch them out later for the re-install. (youll understand once youre in there ;) )remove the front screws. with a ton of force, slide the left side of the controles downward about 1/4 of an inch and push them hard toward the passenger side untill the bottom drivers side tab of the unit emerges from its mounting hole. quickly push upwards on the drivers side of the unit to dislodge and keep it from snapping back into place. push the drivers side of the controls down very hard. they will feel like they are about to break, and they may do just that. if they dont, keep pushing (you will scar up the black plastic housing assembly on that side) untill it falls into the "open" area of the lower dash. attemt to reach back and dissconect the electrical conections for the a/c button, the light, and the "intensity" controls (the biggest harness). these are a pain in the ass, and you will probably have to use a small flathead to pry them out. disconnect any mechanical lines at this point, and remove the ac assembly from the vehical. on a side note...it may be easier to disconnect the mechanical lines at thier sources underneath the dash rather than at the control unit itself. i didnt do it this way, so i dont really know.

kickpanels: theres a screw at the top front of the kicks. take it out (duh). ;)

panels underneath the bottom of the door: dont really know the name for these, they are the part that runs from the kickpanels to the area where the bottom of the front seatbolt attaches. the front of these have a screw connecting them to the kickpanels that should already be removed. the rest is held on with retaining clips. just pry it up gently.

door panels: behind the door handle, there is a screw, remove it and pull the ovel panel it holds in place by pulling it towards the front of the car. at the bottom of the door hold (where you put your fingers in to open the door from the inside) there is a little panel that can be removed with a small flat head. underneath it is a screw, remove it. at each of the four corners of the door there is a screw that has a cap on it. remove the cap with a smal flathead and take out the screws. use a door removal tool to pull all the retainer clips from around the door frame, and carefully disconnect the wiring harness for the power windows/locks (and BE CAREFULL! the screws holding this panel in will strip out of the plastic easily). if you have manual windows, push back on the door fram until you see a pin holding the window crank in place. remove this and pull the crank handle off with a shop rag tucked around the base of the handel (so as not to crack the plastic). the inner dorr panel will fall off. you can further dissasemble it from the back at this point.

lower dash: this is pretty easy, all bolts are pretty obvious. to remove the glovebox, lower it and remove the stoppers from both sides. the box will swing down to the floor at this point. remove the two screws holding it to the dash and it will fall out completely. on the drivers side of the dash, there are one or two bolts coverd by caps, they all are simply removed with a flat head screwdriver.

center console sides: very simple, pry off the caps located in roughly the center of the panels with a small flathead and remove the screws. bend them in various odd shapes to get them out.

upper dash: this is repreinted from another tutorial written by someone on www.2gnt.com . i cant remember his screename for the life of me, i think it was somthing sismilar to USA96 or somthing. here it is:

Ok, its not hard at all.
Im going to write this assuming that you havent ever taken a single piece of dash out of your car.
Ok, First things first....
1. Remove the positive from your battery (So your airbags dont deploy when you disconnect them.
2. Get a bunch of little plastic bags, and put tape on them, then you can label them and put each screw where it belongs, to keep you organized!
3. You will need to remove almost all your interior pieces in the front in order to take your dash off, so I would start with the center console. On each side, near the back there will be a screw, unscrew those. Next you will have to take the cupholder/ashtray piece out, its easy, just grab its edges and give it a tug. Under there you will find two more screws. Unscrew those to. Then the panel around your heating and ac controls. Give that a tug and it should pop right out. There are two more screws there. Unscrew your shift know, and pull up. Dont pull up all the way, just enough to see behind it, you will have 3 wires going into your ciggerette lighter, 2 pull out. The other is the light, just twist it and pull. (Oh there is another one of those lights in the hole where the ashtray was, twist that one out too. Now you can safely pull out your center console.
4. Now you have your Side pieces around your console. There will be one screw all the way down by where your feet are on both sides, then there will be a screw hidden behind a circle about halfway back. Pop that off with a flathead screwdriver and unscrew that, the other part holding it is a snap, that snaps in right about where your ashtray was. Give that a tug and pull it out.
5. Look down by your feet. There are some kick boards down there by the doors, if you want to paint these too, take em out. (I painted it all at once, much easier) There is a screw that holds both the running board under your door, and the kick plate. Unscrew that, and you can now pull your running board up. It is held in by snaps, so just give it a tug and it will come up. The other part of the kickboard is held in by a plastic screw, take a flathead and unscrew that and it will come out.
6. Now under your steering column, you have a piece of dash there that has to come out. Just start popping out the plastic rectangles and you will find bolts, unbolt those and pull it off. On the passenger side do the same thing next to the glove box. With the glove box, you will need to open it up, there are 2 stoppers on the side, holding it from it falling completely down, push downward on those and pull them in the dash. Now your dash will drop all the way down(make sure you have all your sh*t out of it first!) Now there will be two screws on the hinge, unscrew them but be careful not to just let it hang on one screw or you could break a hinge.
7. Now you will need to take off your steering wheel airbag. There should be four bolts on the backside of your steering wheel that you need to take off, unbolt those and pull your airbag out, its connected by 2 wires, (make sure your battery is disconnected!) disconnect those wires, and your airbag is out, now there are 3 screws underneath your wheel that will pull off the plastic cover behind it. Unscrew those. Your Steering wheel should have One very large bolt in the center. Unbolt it(it may be kind tough) Once its unbolted , pull on your steering wheel HARD, it may seem like it doesnt want to come off, but it will.
8. Now there are 2 screws in trim around your guages, unscrew those and pop out the trim. There will be four screws holding it into place. unscrew those and pull the whole assembly out.

9. Next go to your cd player and there should be something like 4 screws holding that in, now you will have to pull those wires, now you are ready to take out the dash. (WHAT WERE JUST GETTING TO THE DASH!!! =P )

10. There will be 2 bolts right where your guage assembly was, and two on each side, on the sides right below where your cd player was. There should be two below where your glove box was, and another one on each side at the top under your tweeters. If you dont have tweeters there, there will be two circle pieces on each side of your airvents right under your windshield. Pry those up and unbolt them. Those are kind of a pain in the a$$ to get to. Once those are up I believe that is it. You will need to get someone to help you to pull the dash out, Especially the side with the airbag will be a little heavier. If I missed a bolt (I think I got them all) You will notice where its being held down, just track it down and unbolt it. Pull your dash out about six inches and find a comfortable place to rest it. There should be - depending on whether you have an RS or whatever, a few wiring harnesses holding it back, one for the airbag. Switch the little green thing up, and pull the two red parts apart. 2 under your heating and AC, and 2 or three all the way by the door on the drivers side. Unhook all of those and pull out your dash.
11. When you get it out, flip it over, there should be 2 bolts, and two screws holding your airbag in place, undo those and pull out your airbag. If you want to paint the vents at the top a diff color, then you should unscrew the whole duct system for the ac and heat. Its not hard, there are 2 screws on each end and two in the middle, for the upper part, and down lower there should be one or two on each end and one more in the middle, pull that out, and push on the vents where the tabs are. Then it will pop out easily.
12. Paint AWAY!!!!

after that the only pieces i can think of to remove are the a-pillers (easy, youll see it when you remove the dash), and the hatch liner pieces (also easy, just use common sense).

well, i guess thats it. wheeeeeeeeew! thats all from memory (except the dash removle which was not written by me), so there may be a few errors, but nothing to really throw you off.

good luck on paining everything. its a challenge, but its not that hard if you take your time. ;)

Damn, dude. . .I didn't expect ALL that. But thanks a ton, I'll be reading that for awhile, but hopefully I can figure it out. Great instructions thanks:thumb:

is the trunk trim and rear side panels the same for a spyder. Is the removal similar? does anyone know how to remove this if its not the same

hey, thanks alot for that, i think ill do that tonite :thumb: it was just what i was lookin for
