I've never had any tickets for the looks of my car, however, in CA, it is illegal to tint front windshield, and both driver and passenger side windows. They do not care about them too much, unless if you get pulled over for other reasons. When you get pulled over for other reasons and still have both of your windows up, they write you for it as well.

They give you fix it ticket and if you fix it (taking out the tint), then you only have to pay a small amount of it.

If you cant see the driver inside with your tint, then you should keep your window down when you drive.

Just call your local police station and ask what the law is in your state for window tint.

I've gotten 2 tickets for window tint in my day.

Now, I just carry around a nice little note from my eye doc saying I require window tint. (even though I dont)

Completely legal.

so what was the reason for your eye doctor to give you the note? LOL

Usually a fix it ticket consists of you fixing the problem in a certain amount of time, and then having the cops check it to make sure you did it. Fix-it-tickets, just the man telling you to rip that crap off your car and waste your money.

My friend recently bought a 97 S-10 that USED to have 15% tint and the guy that owned it before him got pulled over 3 times by the same cop (how ironic) and the cop pulled out a razor and tore the tint right off the windows. There was a bunch of goo stuck on the windows. Just thought I'd share.

Here in Texas we have to have 35% on the Driver/Passenger front windows. The rear you can have dark as you want.

Each state will have different tint laws. You'll have to check with your local DPS/State police station

well.......in kansas there is a 30% tint law but my back three are 5%and front two are 20% an u cant see in it at all!! even in the daytime and i've been pulled over 17 times and they've never said anything. I even got pulled over by the sherriff doin 140 (racin a firebird) and he just let me go so i guess i'm just really lucky

MI cops can right it 2 ways-- eithe a fix it ---
or a moving violation ( comes with 2 pts )
the MI Law is NO TINT AT ALL on the drivers/pass window other than the top 4 inchs. The darkness of the tint makes no diff

Ditto. I got a note from the eye md. I have photophobia, LOL. I got one ticket before the note and it was in some little piss town that has nothing better to do and every time you pass one of their cop cars your radar detector goes off. $40 ticket. I was leaving his town and he turned around to get me. I have full limo tint on my car. You can have it in NJ but not on the front drivers and passengers’ windows which is the most retarded law. The cops here are scared to get shot. It should be the other way around. Most ass beating are given by NJ state troopers and they almost always get off even when the kill people.

In Washington the law is subjective at best. No certification is required for tint, so Cops can decide on the side of the road if yer windows are too dark. The rule of thumb is the back glass and rear sides can be as dark as you like, but front glass must permit the cops flash-light to shine through onto his hand on the other side. In Washington... I have heard of people having to scrape the tint off their ride on the side of the road, but this could be a Kentucky fried mouse...
