I decided to go a different route with the corner lights on my laser. I dont know if anyone has ever tried this stuff. Searched for a while, but nothing really came up. Here is the stuff

The Question I have deals with getting the paint to cure. Stays somewhat tacky for quite sometime. Very odd stuff. If anyone has used it before with success please chime in!

This is how I went about it all. Wet sanded the lens's to get them perfectly clear with 600 grit. Next was Meguiars scratch X to buff them to get the shine back. Once this was done I took some Wax and Grease remover and cleaned the lenses thoroughly. They turned out really awesome. Just the fact I can’t seem to get them fully cured is setting me back. I've seen the threads on the model paint and I'd like to keep using this if possible. If anyone has used it before please share your expirence.:laser:

hmm that's wierd it didn't cure like that. Some paint does require baking to properly cure from a chemical point of view. I know the VHT high temp has to be baked at three different temps for 30 minutes and cooled each time inbetween. There's a really nice amber paint thats at most Arts and Crafts stores, I don't know if you do, but by me theres a store called Micheal's that had a really nice selection of transparent paint. Otherwise you could order Krylon's stained glass paint online. Alot of the honda guys run it on their turn signals and it holds up really really well. Just make sure to get TRANSPARENT glass paint ;)

When your talking about baking it's not 30minutes at a time is it? Or is it 30minutes total time through 3 bakings. Seems like 30minutes in the oven would destroy something.

Holy crap, $25 a can and you have to persuade it to work? Yow.

Yeah it's kinda expensive, but figured what the hell give it a shot. Trying to get ahold of some english instructions for this crap. Jdm in a can with well jdm instructions.

Tried to find the website for the paint, but they have no instructions on there that I can convert to english. All I have is the paper off the back of the can and it's all japenese so that doesn't really help me LOL. Starting to kind of lose hope in this paint. Checked again today and they are still tacky. I've never had this problem with paint. :toobad:

Ive rocked NiteShades on a 93 TSI and it looked very nice, plus it wasnt tacky... its just like spraying anything else. The more coats the darker it is.

Plus it was 10 bucks a can, not 25......

That probably wasn't translucent amber orange though.

Ah a few beers blurs the vision

Ok back on track, so what temp (outside) are you tryin to spray theses at? If its too cold (like 50 and below) it takes a while for the paint to cure, if it will at all. The can should say what temps unless its all in japanese.

Acctually did the painting inside LOL. So around a good 70degrees. For now I've like gave up on it. Maybe they can get it to work if they never ever wash their cars or touch the lens. I ordered some krylon stained glass paint. Comes in the translucent amber orange. Looks really nice with about 3 coats and then about the same with the clear coat. I'll wet sand the clear coat to get rid of any funky affect it may have. Pretty much getting pwn3d, but it looks different without making the appearance of the car stand out like a park bench on the back.
