Just wondering what I could expect to spend if I went from my current burgundy, to a midnight blue or black(speculating here). Doesnt need to be the best damn paint job out there, but it needs to look good and last.. thx for help

anywhere from 1G to 5G's

Anyone know the quality of a MAACO paint job? they advertise for like 600 bucks, but im guessing it sucks

ive always heard that macco's paint jobs are sh!tty. i heard they dont last vary long and they oxidize quickly. my advise it to either save your money and get a high quality paint job, or leave it the stock burgundy color. mine is burgundy and i think it looks nice the way it is. just my opinion.

Well..... if your going for a single color scheme in a Midnight Blue it will probably run you ABOUT 1.5k for a full car coating, thats done in a medium quality grade, it will prolly run 2.5k for a really good job.

do NOT touch Macco Autopaint, they SUCK dude, the paint is total ####! it peels and looks like crap even before it starts to deteriorate! The stupid cheap fool who had my 94 did a macoo on the bumper cuz the dumb hit a light pole, the front bumper is Oxidized and peeled and crack, not kewl, will post pic

I got a paintjob at Maaco for $488 (it was on sale) Full urethane basecoat/clearcoat metalic blue. Came out great and still looked great after two years of Pennsylvania weather. 4 year warranty on those urethane jobs, too. I like the Maaco paint jobs; if you pay for the base/clear combo, then the quality of the paint isn't all that bad. It's the quality of the masking that's sometimes not up to par.

Macco i crap anyone who tells you other wise does'nt know about autobody I have done it for years and currently I am going to school at WYOTECH belive me we have a macco near us and sometimes we would get one of these cars in our shop first off just to buy paint for your car it should cost 300-500 bucks depending on the color already we are above macco prices also they won't even wash your car off befor they paint it so you get dirt, bugs and everything else in your paint third they don't even sand they old paint so they new stuff will stick (thats why it peels) the reason why some of there paint oxidizes is because they use cheap no name single stage paint to cut prices all cars nowadays are painted with a base/clear and they charge you more for that just so it might look ok from a distance also they don't even mask off most of the stuff and if they do it's just half-ass I have seen car's with the tires painted rims and all and there nothing you can do about it after they do it.
you could get better quality by doing it yourself with walmart spraypaint.

maaco isn't always that bad, they can be as bad as any other shop. it just depends on who does the work and how good they do it. ask friends or people around your town to see if your maaco or whoever you have around does a good job.

Ok, WTF?? We went from 1-2k, to 2.5-3k+...............These prices are INSANE!!!!! ITs going to take me atleast 4 months to gather up atleast 5grand, I don't want to drive my car around that long with everything shaved, with a white body kit and most likely gray splotches everywheres where I shaved it. I'm calling up some paint shops near me tomorow.

You get what you pay for and that's all there is to it.

If your doing a complete color change and want it done right it's gonna cost you. My guess at a complete color change (door jams, engine, hatch) would be around 5k depending on the paint you choose it could be cheaper. It takes alot of time to mask off a car for a full color change.

Well, for me I want the same color as my car. But the thing is, when I am ready to get the car painted, I will have a body kit, tail light conversion, shaved entire body, And I would have the entire body sanded down so that there is no paint on it, except for the engine compartment. The engine compartment is going to be different color, a darker shade of Gray so that the engine and everything around it will stand out. I was thinking a Silver Paint job since thats the original color, and whenever I work on the engine I could mask off the fenders, windows, headlights and pull the engine and everything out of there and just paint the engine compartment like Gun Metal. I must call some paint shops!

DuPont: There is a location in my city, but I could not find it in the Phone Book.

*This was the nicest place I called, the people were friendly, they explained everything that is done to the car when the paint job is done. The cheap paint job cost about $800 and that was just the regular OEM paint color. The expencive paint job was about $2500 and it is the highest quality paint by DuPont. I have actualy seen alot of the cars done at this place since they are located near my work and they do PERFECT show quality cars, he guarenteed that when he finished the car, I could drive it straight to a car show.

I sugjest everyone who wants a paint job to look in the Auto area in your phone books and call up alot of places to get estimates, but remember that you must have patience because some of the people were mental midgets, and some you wont be able to understand LOL.

I hope this information comes in handy.
