Probe GT

I don't know if this has been asked yet, I did a search on it and couldn't find anything close to it, and I can't find a Probe GT to figure it out...so I was hoping one of you could answer my question if you are experienced enough.

The 97 Probe GT's tail lights are similar in looks to the Eclipse's, but I like the look of the GT's tail lights more then the stock tail lights of my GSX. I am looking to find out if I were to take the tail lights and the center peice out of my eclipse, and somehow find a set of Probe GT tail lights, are the probe's tail lights too flat in some area's to Mount and Shave (Surroundings) to look normal? Does anyone know this? Because from pictures and Probes passing by it looks like it would go in and have no problem with shape, but the eclipse is alot rounder then the Probe. I would usualy just back my car up to a Probe GT inside a junk yard and play around to see if it would go in and fit good enough so I could shave the surrounding area's to get it to look stock and perfectly fit, but I can't find a Probe GT at any junk yard where I live. If I can find this info out I will buy a set from one of my friends who scouts thier junk yards in different states for stuff like this. Any help would be great, and if anyone can help me, I thank you deaply.

I've seen camaro taillights grafted into an eclipse rear end, unless you want to spend a sh!tload of money on custom body work don't bother thinking about it cause it wont work...and if you are going to spend the money on the custom bodywork please dont use probe taillights(c'mon!!!) at least go buy some supra taillights.

No, that will definatly make my car feel like Rice. I am trying to exceed my brain power to figure it out, I like the Probe's tail lights, I am trying to design my car to be like a Mitsubishi Eclipse gone from Stock to Super.....Say for instance, Hennesey took 2 Stock Dodge Vipers and they created the Hennesey Venom's, body kit, exhaust, twin turbos...I want to do the same you know....I want to rebuild the engine in my car, put an aftermarket turbo, exhaust, intercooler......then I want to find a body kit that looks great and also kinda gives off a stock apearance but more of a Venom/Eclipse apearance , And I know the Probes tail lights are different, but they are also kinda similar in shape...I just don't know how UN-Similar. I know it would take some body work, I just want to get a hard core figure of how much body work. I didn't like those camaro tail lights. They were uneven. You are probably thinking of the ugly probe's tail lights, but I'm talking about the 97 GT's tail lights.

I am going to do some body work first, but once I know I cannot do them, I will paint the car and just buy some JDM's. Can't you see how similar they are to the stock tail lights? Its like what Shelby did with the 67 Mustang, put the 67 Cougar tail lights on it to look sportier. See what I'm gettin at?

Here, I did a little photoshoping, I didn't go all out or it would look perfect but this is a rough draft of the rear end I want to put the tail lights on and what they would look like on the Bishi.

Don't worry that is not my car, I hate it when people put 747 wings on thier cars, its like they think it will give the car extra horse power, I just want a normal stock wing, or maybe veilside's wing for the eclipse. but thats to the max I will go. I'm sure you know what I'm talkin about.

I am trying to design something with the same "STYLE" as the eclipse......I AM TRYING TO DESIGN A AFTERMARKET "MITSUBISHI" Eclipse. Look at the 68 Shelby GT350-500...What Carrol Shelby did was take a 68 Mustang Fast Back, and put the 68 MERCURY COUGAR tail lights in to change the look of it. Thats what I am wanting to do, I want to design something to be like a Shelby Eclipse, or a Hennesey Eclipse. Try to get what I am saying, I have found a body kit that is aftermarket, and still gives off the accents of the Eclipse's, but looks more sportier, I think those tail lights look sweet and I don't care if the inner part is smaller, which I doubt it will be because that was just my Photochoping. I don't want to rice out my car with Altezza's and CrAP (APC) like that. The Ford Probe GT's tail lights are similar to the Mitsubishi Eclipse tail lights, but NOT, Once you understand you should know what I want to do. It will give my car a "DIFFERENT" look. Right now since I have found the body kit I want which I personaly think it gives off a Mitsubishi Eclipse OEM look, I am looking for a pair of 19" wheels that also give off a Mitsubishi Eclipse OEM look but be sportier, I saw that guy's RS with the 19" crome wheels and the 3 3/4" drop and I like how that sits so I am going to do that. I was thinking something like the 2002 Corvette Style Crome Wheels but in 19". I am customizing a 2002 Corvette FlowMaster exhaust to mount up behind the car and come out in the middle of the car in 4 tips.

I also need to ask you guys in the engine section about the difference between the 1G and the 2G 4G63 Turbo (AWD) motor's, but I will do that after I figure this out. If nobody know's this, then go ahead and please notify me and I will do my best to try and find a set of GT Tail Lights, but so far thanks for the help you two.

EHH, that must have sucked, I was put into a wall at 150mph, then I rolled right into a poll, I have never seen a vehicle more damaged, stupid scared driver in a Camaro, he got a little nick in his front bumper for pushing my tail end out from under me I hate stupid drivers! Glad your allright man. I just need to find something nobody else has done to call my own "Unique Mod". So do you still have anything of the probe? Any possesion of it? I realy need to find a set of the GT Tail lights, unless the regular pos probe's tail lights are the same shape...

I'd say they are pretty close in shape and size to the Eclispe lights. They might be a little skinnier.

Sorry I can't be on any help otherwise. I have a friend that has a Probe GT, so maybe if I see him this week or weekend I'll get him to take his tail light out and we'll compare it.

I like it..HHHHMMMMM..this gives me a idea...On my mini I took some spary tint and tinted all my lens.I might have to try something like the Probe tail lights just to break up the solid red lens.

Ohh what everyone wants to do this now? . DSMNATE, that would be of great help man! I just hope I am the first to do this . All I can think that would be a good tail light would have to be the JDM tail lights, or the Probe Tail Lights. I am opening my own Auto Detailing and Customizing shop in Arizona so I will be doing stuff like this. Right now I'm just doing side jobs for friends and family, I still get alot of buisness. I'm gonna go through the car directory and look for other tail lights that could be used. Just so I don't stick you guys with one Idea

Thanks, but common, please don't tell me nobody has thought of this before? I was thinking of doing this to my 96 Dodge Avenger ES a while back when I didn't have the Eclipse, And I know that the Dodve Avenger is similar to the Eclipse RS.

i used to have a probe and all the lights are the same size i actually put those lights that you want on my 94 when i had it before it was completely vandalized.

No i'm not going to get probe lights.The all red tail are just boring and i don't altezzas.Spray tint is another option.I've used it before.97-99 headlights are black so why not tint the rest black.
