Scraped!!!

this car was beautiful till i scraped it earlier this evening. now theres a white line on the sideskirt from scraping the sidewalk, any recommendations?
i know this is 420a thread but this is where i usually turn to as well. please help, im crying at the loss of my baby's beauty

Is it a scrape or a gouge? (spel.??) If it's just a surface scrape, get yourself some good polishing wax, an orbital buffer and buff it out. If it's a slight, I mean SLIGHT groove, get yourself some 3M rubbing compound and rub it out then buff it with polishing wax. If it's deep but did not break the base coat of the color, get 800/1200/1500/2400 grit sandpaper and sand it starting with 800 and making your way to 2400. Then re-clearcoat the spot. Usually a body shop will charge you around $200 to do that. Give me more info and I'll be able to tell you exactly waht to do...seeing as I work at a full custom shop.

If you need to re-clearcoat it, do you really need to sand up to 2400 grit before applying the clear?

You can stop at 1200/1500 but we like to go down to 2400..gives you an almost mirror like finish

Well it should give you a mirror like finish after sanding and buffing the clearcoat also. I dunno, to me it wouldn't really seem worth it to go all the way to 2400 if you have to DA the clear after it dries anyways. If it works for you though man, don't mess with it.
