hey, i searched for a/c, and a/c delete, and air conditioning, and nothing really came up. Ok heres the deal. People delete the a/c units. My quick question is, when people usually remove the a/c what do they USUALLY take out. Im not familiar with a/c units. So if you can break it down into two diffrent scenarios, one of the best scenario with the least amount of work needed and parts, and the worst scenario with the most amount of work/parts needed i would REALLY appreciate it. If you guys could give me a basic idea of costs i would appreciate it. I emailed mitsu graveyard, and they said they needed to know exactly what parts i needed. I really want a/c for my future daily driven vehicle. Its just that many dsm's in my area have the a/c's deleted out. thanks for your time.

I am considering wether or not i am going to keep my ac. I was going to keep everything out. Which includes the condenser, compressor, evaporator, blower motor, heater core, all the ac lines, and i think that is about it. The compressor, heater core, and blower motor are all under the dash and are kinda difficult to remove, beings you have take out the dash. Everything else should be pretty easy. I dont know about the prices, but these are the components of the ac. Also you might want an ac fan. Check and see if you have all the air ducts too. Hope this helped.

I do not know whether you have one or not but a junkyard where you can pull the parts yourself is probably going to be your best bet. make sure of the parts that you need and then go and pull them. The junkyard around here usually has several DSMs.

Don't forget about the brackets on the motor that hold the compressor on. You will need the belt tensioner, belt, and tensioner pulley also. Hopefully the car was originally equipped with AC so the wiring/ AC switch is there at least.

I thought I would add that the Heater core is not really an AC componet. It has coolant that runs through it and that is it. No refrigerant. It is housed in the black box with the AC so I can see why you would mention that, but the heater core is only used for heat and is seperate from the AC system. It is actually a part of the cooling system.

There is a blend door that moves between the AC part of the black box to the heater part of the box to give you the temperature setting you want. It is controlled by the knob on the dash that has the red and blue over the top of it. When you want all heat the door is completly closed to the AC part of the box and the blower blows through the heater core and takes the heat of the coolant with it. Vise versa for all AC. It blends the two boxes together to give you your desired temperature.

Installing an AC system also requires you to charge and oil the system. Take it to a shop when all the componets are installed so they can properly test the system for leaks and charge the sytem.

bringin this back to life I am deleting my AC when I swap my motor and tranny over to a clean shell. I am removing the AC compressor and lines however what to do when the get to where the AC lines connect to the aluminum line that goes into the firewall and some where behind the dash is it ok to just do nothing with this connection. The connection is closer to the passenger side of the vehicle right about the OEM fuel filter location and the Brake proportioning valve I believe diamond in shape?

If you are deleting the ac then everything can go thats attached. All the lines can be cut and ripped out however you see fit. Lines running through the firewall? Eh, crimp em, cut em, let em be.... doesn't matter.

If you want to remove the ac and keep it around or sell it..... well thats gonna take a little longer but still, everything is pretty self explanatory whenits in front of you.
