interior paint

I am changing the interior of my car, and don't want to paint it, nut what kind of paint will work, and not chip for the panels of my 2G. and I also need any ideas for changint the color of the dash.

Hey man, i painted the interior of my old ford focus hatchback and it came out great. Go to wal mart and get you about 2-3 cans of Krylon FUSION ($4.98/can) and 2-3 cans of some VERY good clear coat. You need to apply a very good amount of clear coat. Even when rubbed continuously in spots, the paint will not fade or chip if done properly. Oh and make sure you sand it down . It said no prime necessary but trust me, you will want to sand that down. Also, dont forget alcohol or acetone will be needed to get rid of the plastics chips after the sanding. Good luck!

I would HIGHLY not recommend painting the interior of your car here in AZ. Unless you take it to a body shop and have them use paint and primer there where they can prep it and paint it with body paint it will chip like crazy no matter how many coats of clear you use.

Use duplicolor vinyl paint on your dash if you do it, and don't clearcoat it. I also used Krylon fusion in my car, but I needed more like 10 cans of paint, rather than 2-3, but I did the whole car. Bulldog adhesion promoter from walmart also does wonders, I used that as well. I also used Krylon krystal triple-thick clearcoat from walmart, but was not satisfied with the results with this clearcoat. I would try another one. Scrub down all the panels thuroughly with soap, water, and a scotchbrite pad before painting. Good luck, its a long project

the fusion stuff looks good but when you add clear it is way to glossy to look factory...plus your gonna wear it out, i did. the bottom door panels and the panels on the left and right of the center console will wear especially where your foot touches the gas pedal and the panel.

im painting the interior of my eclipse right now, i bought the fusion paint for 4bucks a can and personally its junk, the cheap stuff is working better then it, just take your time and dont mess up cause once you have to respray it over it, it starts looking crappy, im regretting it now, but im to far in to stop, im kindof wishing i didnt start it, or just took it to a shop

Im painting my interior as well. Using duplicolor vinyl paint, and everything is coming out great. I washed each panel with soapy water, then went over it with brake cleaner. Using brake cleaner removes ALOT of dirt that the soap couldnt get rid of.

As for the trunk, us a pickup bedliner spray! Its great because it resists scratching when you're moving things in and out of the trunk, but also retains much of the interior texture. Hope this helps

Acetone is good to clean the interior panels with, too. Takes out a lot of oils from cleaning products. Bulldog also makes a product called Flex-agent that will do wonders to make the paint last longer.
