Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you guys have any pics of your modded doors. I was more or less looking for the straight piece of aluminum with the handle, unlock/lock, and the window roll-up. I posted a pic below but i was just wondering what i looks like on the car

Thanks in Advance :rocks:

Also, what did you guys use to secure the aluminum to the door

I dont have any info for you, but what exactly is the functionality of this?

Looks like chit, and now everybody that gets in your car will be using the door and getting their greasy handprints all over the place instead of using the handles.

Wow, that's interesting looking. I'm sure there are some people who would love that.

Partially me because I'm sick and tired of the cheap door panel's plastic parts breaking.

The reason for doing this is because you cut out the metal off the inside of the door and took out the crash bar for weight savings. Then you need something to replace that gaping hole with so you use something lightweight. The only other one I've actually taken a good look at was Joe Bucci's sheetmetal one. Check this page and then the next one for the finished look.

Other then that I've got nothing as far as pics or info on doing it.

Thanks Sbstar for contributing to my question! I'm not too concerned about people's opinions about how they look. But do check out that page on dsmtalk.

I know there are some other people who have done this! The crash bar doesn't necesarrily have to be taken out either

2 lbs? I think they weigh significantly more then that Defiant, honestly when your going all out drag and looking to save weight, you look everywhere. Every couple of pounds here and there add up. But why am I telling you this, you should already know that. Total weight savings from gutting the doors has been reported as about 30lbs. that is an awesome weight savings to get from just one spot. Find two more spots like that and gain a tenth in the 1/4 (according to most at least although the exact logic is flawed). So your saying a tenth isn't worth it perhaps, but also think of it this way, your also saving your drivetrain because it doesn't have to lug such a heavy beast down the track. If your daily driving your car I would not suggest doing it, simply because on a drag car I would suppose you would have a roll bar/cage which would hopefully provide you more protection then that crash bar in the door. So in answer Defiant every tenth counts on the track so perhaps it could lead to first place.

I need to shave a tenth off my times to the grocery store... I'm so doing this LOL.

Nah, Like it's been said, if it's an all-out drag car, do it. I don't have any additional info on how or more pics or anything, besides I think it has been covered already, but if it's a DD, don't. Good luck, maybe if you do it, do a How-To on it!
