hey im looking to paint my center tail light black to match the body of the car, should i take it out and take it to a shop to have them paint it or do it myself? should i put the eclipse lettering back on? or would it look cleaner with it off??

if i was you i would just get tail light covers - and only put the center section on -- you can acualy just buy only the center at some places

To answer your question, yes I would take it to a shop, since your car is 5 going on 6 years old they will have to match the paint. Eclipse lettering on or off is a personal preference but I think a lot of the people here that paint the center have left the letters off. I believe they used a hair-dryer or something to heat the letters and the glue melts a little and then you can pull them off, don't quote me on that though.

use a heat gun on the lettes, but it''llstil leave the outline of the letters in glue, but you can just compund them, then polish them with a buffer and you shouldnt see them, or the body shop will wet sand it smooth first

If I was you I would take the parts off myself. I would take them to a shop along with the VIN of the car. That way they will have the paint code of your car. It will not be a perfect match anyway because the paint of your car is probably faded and what ever you paint will look newer that your car. If it is a custom color take the color code to the shop.
