whelp once again it is dark and cold and im calling it a night, even though i still havent gotten the god damn door trim off. i cant figure it out from the shop manuals i have, it might be im just not pulling hard enough. but still i dont wanna break anything so im being gentle.

in any case i was gonna try some interior mods (little paint to spruce things up here and there). so if anyone has some tips on getting the entire door trim off a 1g i would appreciate any tips. thanks.

If your talking about the door panel itself, its pretty easy there is on screw on the bottom of the handle, then like 3 on the inside (fender side) and one hidden in the carpet down below. Once you get all the screws out, its just clips, so just give it a tug and it'll come off

If you are talking about the trim on the outside at the window. I just replaced mine and it is a pain. With the window all the way down and the plastice retaining piece out (at the end of the trim inside the door jam) it just pulls up and off towards the top of the door. There is a lip all the way down that hangs on tight to the door frame, ask a body shop, there may be a tool to pop it off easily. I just pulled mine apart with my fingers as I went down the edge and it came up fine just took a lot of pressure. I pretty much sacrificed my old ones by spreading them too far apart - I had new ones from machv.com to replace them with.

All of the 1g's I have seen have had this piece of trim all ripped up and ugly. I repainted my trim on my old 92 Eclipse with special paint and it only lasted about 3 months before it was again looking bad. New ones are worth the $50 bucks. They really look a ton better.

Hopefully this helps someone, even if it isn't the piece you were talking about. There are no directions anywhere for taking this stuff off and this is the second time I have had to do it. I would have killed for some instruction the first time.
