Question about shift light tachs...

i have been wanting a tach with a shift light mounted on the top but i am wondering how it works. I know you can set the light to turn on when you reach a certain r.p.m., but how does it know what gear you are in, since each gear shifts at different points, or do you just set it to light up at like, i.e. 6000 r.p.m.'s??? Thanks for the help

yes you set it up to shift at a specific point all the time, you can change it with the dial, it doesnet know what gear your in, it knows how many rpms the engine is turning...

Since where on shift lights, does anyone know how to hook up an autometer mini shift light with the RPM Activated Module ? Sorry chuckt didn’t mean to jack your thread.

its fine, i want one of those lights anyways, i need to know where to get one and how to install it.

I don't know how to install that one into a 2G, but I have a 1G and I ordered a stand-alone Proform shift light from www.summitracing.com and it seems to do the job, since I don't really see the need for the 5" tach, in that when the light comes on, you shift. Good luck. Jake
