St. Louis,
Im thinking of buying a Blaupunkt San Jose model mp3/cd receiver, but Im not sure if I want to yet. Im looking for someone who has owned one to see if they had a good or bad experience with Blaupunkt, or someone who has heard good or bad things about them. Thanks.

I have installed a couple in some work trucks and things like that, i wouldent use it for a high end stereo though, the pre outs on those suck, very bad clarity to an amp, but then again it all depends on you, how much are you paying for it????

I'm pretty happy with my Hamburg (Skyline II/CD 70).

Blaupunkt are Bosch; you can expect their stuff to be pretty solid, but not anything really outstandingly special. If you're looking for just a head unit, and plan on building a crazy stereo system behind it, you might want to look elsewhere.

But if you want a solid head/receiver/amp/eq unit and just plan on hanging some speakers and maybe a sub off it, the Blaupunkt units are a good option. They have good ergos, they tend to perform well; they're basically a no-nonsense brand good enough to be factory equipment for Porsche, BMW and Mercedes.

The keycard security in the CD70 kicks ass. Rather than carry my whole faceplate around, I just slip another credit card into my wallet. 8)
