hey im shaving my door handles next week. i need to know what is better selinoids or door poppers?

Ok. ALOT of people confuse these. Why I do not know..

Silinoids are what open the actual door latch.

Poppers are what "Pop" or Push teh door open. Basicly a spring pressered in teh door jam. when the silinoid pulls the door latch open, the spring decompresses. hence, Door popper.

I got my 2-Door Shaved kit for $150.00 Which it came with EVERYTHING. 2 35 lb Silinoids, 2 Door Poppers, 2 Buttons, relays/wires, 10-Channel Remote.

Awesome buy.

If your car is a daily driver or you drive it alot, I suggest getting 35 lb silinoids.. 15 lb'ers will wear out and eventually die because of excessive use.

It doesnt hurt, say every 6 months to switch your silinoids around. from drivers to pass side. so that the drivers side doesnt fuk up and never work.

If you are going to shave them yourself, let me know and I will give you some tips.

oh yea i forgot someone also told me you have to have an alarm if you are going to do this. is that true? because these kits they sell come with remotes so that tells me that you dont need one.

no, you dont need an alarm. if you opt to get a kit without a remote module then you could use an alarm.

but its kinda stupid seeing as how you can get a kit with 10 channel remote for cheap.

that special button dont do jack sh!t if the battery is dead.
all that button would do is get you in the car if you lost your remote.
but, not havign the remote, means you lost your keys, which means you dont need in the biotch anyway.

i shaved my handles and the center light, so ther are no key holes anywhere, but I mad it so mydrivers side talilight swings out and it has a battery terminal mounted behind the light if the battery dies, and I also have taplock keyless entry. so if you lock your keys in the car all you do is tap on the window in a certain pattern that you program and it pops the door open( I still have another one of these kits too if any body is interested), this is alot better than that lil button taht comes with the kit because once someone finds out where that button is its pointless, so this tap lock replaces that button, and you can change the code whenever you want

i made the mistake of laying the remote in the seat and shutting the door . thank got the sunroof was open and i threw my brother in the car though it . thank god for little people

search--- there is a website that shows how to really install the pop doors, like tips like a small little battery that can run it if your battery dies, how to wire it to open if you lose your remote or lock it in stuff like that all the tricks to having pop-doors, i was going to do the shaved handles but saw how much shit goes wrong with the pop-doors and make sure you get strong poppers

they are made by autoloc, they just hook up to your keyless entry or as a relay for the power wire going to the door solinoid , so you dont have to have that lil button that mounts under you car, all you do is program in a certain code( by tapping on the location of the sensor) and then if you lock your keys in the car you just tap on that spot with the code you programed in and the door will pop open.
you can put the sensor just about anywhere, its easy to install, and it is alot better than that lil switch, that anyone can use to get into your car, I can sell you a new kit for$115 shipped, its worth it, beleive me. I am actuallly selling one of those kits on the dsmtrader website.

and as far as the bttery going dead thing it works too, like on my car. behind my driverside talilight (it swings out) is a battery terminal, so if you battery dies all you have to do is hook a jumper cable up to it and the pop the door using the taploc or the key pad.

thats what i thought but like someone said above in a previous post, just swap the solinoids from door to door every 6 months or so, it makes it alot easier on them, I havent had to do that yet though because i got 50lb solinoids, they are perfect i dont even need the door poppers to push the door open, the 50lb ers pop it open a good 3-4 " by them selves

I have a back up battery for my alarm system so I have a bypass or something set up that will fall back on that if the main battery dies

i met a guy that taps on his side mirror to get into his car, like on the top of the mirror, and his door pops open i was like WTF!... now hearing of taplock i think thats pretty kick ass!



im a newby to body work, but i know some people who have done alot of it.. would you guys give me advice on it? i'd like to A. shave my door handles, B. take that strip that runs down the side of my 1g off and fill it in, and C. fix a small dent in my car door....

my paint job is very good at the moment.. BUT heres my dream talon...
DRIFT body kit, lowered a bit, sitting on 18" gunmetal with a silver lip Race Hart C5's.... shaved handles, no annoying strip on the side of my car... also what i think would be neat is to buy the altezza tail lights and smoke them out so they're almost black.... with NightShades spray tint..


lift the engine out, and repaint the car totally, also clean up the engine a bit.. ive been doing performance mods, but i just want some looks to add as well...

I have Autoloc's system with 50lb solinoids. It works pretty well, however the brain is a POS. 2 friends of mine can open my doors with their car alarm remotes.

When the battery dies, there is always the key to open the trunk.

i put an extra key on my wallet so just incase the batery does die i can get in so i basically always have boths sets of keys with me at all times

yeah but like on my car there is no trunk key whole, its all shaved off, everything is shaved.........everything, so thats why i have the terminal behind my tail light

well just to let yall know. i dont know if my car got shaved or not. i left the week i was suppose to get them shaved. i am in the military and they sent us over here in the f@#$%^&N gulf. but if it is done i will gets picks posted when i get back.
