Rims

Hey. I'm new to the whole DSM and car community. I just got my '95 GST and I'm loving it. My friend is offering me his rims for pretty cheap, but I have no idea if they'd fit or how to tell. The size is 18" x 7.5", the offsets +42mm and the bolt pattern is universal 5x100 and 5x114.3. Also, it's only the rims he's selling me, so how do I know what tire would fit on the rims? What kind of tire is best?

Take a rim, jack your car up and try to swap the rim if it dont work dont buy them. Tire should be 205ish or go to a tire shop and the can help with tire size. Us the search button for tires it has been talked about so many times!

and 225/40/18 is practically a perfect match for the stock tire diameter

I'll probably end up getting them now. Thanks. Will I have a problem with rubbing against anything with that offset?

I run 235/40/17 on 17X7" rims. A tire shop can help you determine what the best tire size is for those rims. I'm not familiar with offset. What car did they come off of? that would help some. If it's AWD and you are FWD then there may be a problem fitting them correctly.

Thats right; DSMs have a 5x114.3 stud pattern. those rims your friend has will work for you; Any rim that is listed as 5x100 is also compatable as a 5x114.3. Just make sure that there are 10 double-decked stud holes on your rim. Also, a safe bet on a tire that wont wear improperly ( given no camber, toe, or ect) is a 225/40/18, just as Attack Eagle said. Low sidewall, proper offset on an 18 x 7.5; damn I feel like im at work.
