Question I stripped my interior and I want to paint the frame (metal), what would I use to clean the frame before I paint it?

(its obviously dusty, and dirty)

get it clean with soapy water and then when that dries, use some wax and grease remover to get rid of the wax and grease....

wade

Any specific type of soap? LOL

I wouldnt think soap/water and metal mix haha

Use an aggresive dish soap. it should help with removing any residue. Maybe even pick up a degreaser like simple orange or something.

Use something that you would buy in order to prep a car for painting on the exterior such as KARSOL (recommended) or CAR PREP. Those would be your best bet to get everything ready.

Use undercoating, that should stick pretty good. You know that stuff that you use to paint the inner fender wells. You could also buy a 5 gallon bucket of rhino liner and just paint it on there, that works out good i know a lot of people that have done that and it works out really nicely. Plus you dont have to worry about that stuff scratching up or anything like that it will last forever.

Watch out for the undercoatings. Some of them are tar-like and stay greasy and won't dry to the touch. That would be a disaster. I'd go with bed-liner myself.
Karsol, Prepsol, or the like should be good. Some degreasers probably aren't paint friendly. Denatured alcohol after degreaser or soap should work too.
