2 DIN spots in 1G dash...

I have a 1G Eclipse with a factory standard size AM/FM/Cassette receiver mounted over a factory equalizer/booster. I know Im going to mount a new CD receiver in the top slot in place of my old radio, but since the factory EQ/Booster won't work with aftermarket receivers, I dont know what to do with that bottom slot. Does anyone know of some aftermarket in-dash EQs that would fit in the opening? Or something else that I could put there (dont say turbo timer, Im N/T)?

i put a "dash kit" (only the thing that is used to cover the bottom hole) for a 95+ eclipse it fit fine dont have a pic though

Go to the dealer, buy a "dash pocket". Then make a lip for it out of some foam tape so your stuff doesn't go flying everywhere when you take off. 8)

Did the "dash kit" make the 2 openings into one or what? Do you know where on the web I could find a pic?

no i unscrewed the mounting brackets off of the stocker radio and screwed it into my regular radio then just used the covering from the dash kit to cover up the bottom opening

.....my stock radio had the equilizer attached is yours in two seperate parts? i assume since we have the same car its not...

Well they might be one part, but the little plastic piece around the faceplate of the radio and the EQ runs in between them, making them look like 2 parts. I havent bothered to pop that piece off and see if the EQ and radio are actually connected though.

(edit): I was just searching through ebay for an example picture. Heres a page with a picture from a 95 Eclipse, but the little plastic piece around the 2 radio slots looks the same as in my car.

the radio and eq are seperate and just bolted to a metal peice that comes out with the two. the plastic peice is easy to take out it just pops off. you could just fill in the bottom piece with a peice of plexiglass. thats wat im gonna be doin and puttin a little strobe or neon in behind it.
its all the little things that count man

I saw a 1g with a receiver in the top half and a regular six-disc changer below it. Not one of the new indash changers, but like one that you'd put in your trunk. Looked sweet.

why not pick up a piece of flat carbon fiber and break out the dremel, you could fit a turbo timer and a guage or a couple guages, you could use plexi instead of CF and still backlight it with neon behind a couple guages, the possibilities are endless with a nice little opening like that

thats pretty much what i did,but i used abs from a radio shop.

Heres what i did....well what i will do at least
i moved my aftermarket CD player to the bottom slot and put an LCD screen in the top spot. (one of those without a CD Player) that makes it cheaper in the long run. and it looks all badass and such
