i want to make a custom enclosure for my subs using the whole trunk including the wheel well.... i drew something up on how i want it to look like.... (please dont laugh LOL) im planning to take out the spare tire and get rid of that metal piece thats hold the tire....

for the plastic panels do i have to take them out? or leave them in place and shape the fiberglass on the panels? or should i cut the panels?

i alrdy dynamate my whole trunk will it be ok?

is mdf wood used for the top part of the box or its all fiberglass?

how much time does this usually take for a good job?

i have all tools to get it done but im totally new at this... i would pay someone to do it for me but the price is going to be to much... ive never done this before so its going to be fun... does anyone have pics that looks like something im trying to do?

thanks for any help

i'll post pics this evening of the job i did in my car....very similar. i removed the spare tire brace, glassed the spare tire well then glassed a MDF box on top of it. you can use all fiberglass or put an mdf top on, just depends on how much time and cash you wanna spend.

i'd just leave the panels in and put newspaper, then foil over it...that way you can just pull the fiberglass enclosure out and remove the foil, that way it doesnt stick to anything and its a removeable enclosure.

as for learning the procedure, theres a tech article on here on how to fiberglass. its a simple process.

any questions feel free to ask

sorry for the wait...we're in the process of moving and it's driving me crazy.

by the way, the box is a bit big for the sub, airspace is estimated around 4.5 cubic feet. the spare tire well is about 2 by itself.

edit*- dont mind the "frunt" or "bak"...my friend was trying to humor me haha....we really are competent people!

i changed my mind im not going to use fiberglass but all mdf... i started the 2 boxes... each comes about 1.5cu per box.... the problem im having is should i keep the box sealed or vented? the boxes are shaped like a L (i can draw a few pics if it helps) ... im not sure how to get the correct port size if i decide to vent the box..... please help

thx
