Cd Player Install

What is all need to install an aftermarket cd player? The cd player is a kenwood, but does not have the mounting sleeve around it is that needed?

you will need a chysler mounting kit that you can get from any stereo shop, then just follow the directions inside the package. The metal sleeve that is around the deck itself, you can also get from most shops, you will have to go in with the model of deck and they should be able to order one in for you. they aren't very expensive. The next step is to find your' ground wire. If you cannot find it you can ground to some metal inside the dash. You can check for your constant live by using a test light and find the wire that has power to it all the time even with the key off. Your key power live is almost the same thing but the wire will only have power when the key is in the on or accessory position, make sure you are not on the dimmer wire by using the dimmer switch , if the test light dims out this is not your key power.If you are lucky enough to still have the facory harnes still intact you can also get a premade harness from a stereo shop the just plug into the harness and is nicely color coded for you radio harness. As for the speaker wires I'm sorry I can't help with that I can't remember what color mine were. Hope I helped a little , good luck

Or just buy the adapter harness for it , wire it to the headunit, and plug it in. As far as mounting, My pioneer had holes to line up to the old brackets that are bolted to the side of the stock unit. That was in our '92.

make sure you tighten that ground wire tight to something...don't make my first mistake of just kinda connecting it on something, then 5 miles later it disconnects...

oh yea...side question...is there any specific reason that when i installed my cd player it smoked a little... just curious

Chrysler install kit, Wiring harness for your car. You can pick these up and best buy, circuit city etc. My cd player doesnt have a mounting sleeve around it, I just screwed it into the install kit. The install is very simple. Hook up the wires according to the wiring harness instruction papers. Hook harness into cd player, mount it, then your done. Its a very simple straight forward install. Its also a good idea to have voltage tester.

I baught the wiring harness and install kit, where do i mount the cd player to without the sleeve the mounting kit basicly gives the bottom pocket, do I use something else from this kit?
