For weight reduction purposes.

How light are they? How much do they cost? can you mold them yourself?

How light are they?

-Depends on the panel
How much do they cost?
-the only fiberglass panels I know of for DSMs are fenders and hoop there maybe more but I haven't heard of them. so as far as price goes I would think they are quite expensive.

can you mold them yourself?

-anyone can mold their own panels if you know how. here is a link if you are interested if you want to try

do you think it is wortht he weight saving to make panels while my car is away for the winter?

if you can mold and lay the pieces yourself or know someone to do it for you YES.

the thing is there aren't many body panels to lighten. The biggest thing to lighten that I can see would be the hatch lid. I have been looking into that but I have yet gotten an hard core answers on if they will do it.

From my reasearch it wont be cheap either, but if someone does beat me to it im thinking he will be a rich man.

Magnus Motorsports used to sell fiberglass panels on their website. I don’t see a link on their home page right now but I'm sure you could contact them about pricing and availability.

I too have been thinking about a fiberglass rear hatch. The problem is it isnt allowed in most the street classes. I can have them made if there is sufficient demand for them. The rear glass probably weighs more than the hatch itself. Replacing the rear glass with lexan would be the easiest and most profound weight savings I think.

if you were gonna sell a fiberglass hatch id like to know, perferably something with a small window or something to view through:thumb:

fiberglass can be a pain to work with. i'll only do my own fiberglass work on interior pieces (a/c vent gauge pod, etc.)

There is no weight savings to be had with fiberglass fenders. The factory fenders are very light. The largest weight savings are hood, doors, hatch. Unfortunately all these except for the hood also require changing to lexan windows. This will end up saving alot of weight but isnt practical on a street car.
